anyone got any?! He'll be 9, would love to have a bouncy castle for 10 in the garden - prob cheaper than hiring somewhere, but may just have to have a friend for a sleepover :(

How cheap is cheap? DD was 5 this year just changed schools we took her and 2 friends bowling. Freind for sleepover with a cinema type thing si good. DVD, pizza, popcorn, sleeping bags in front of TV.

We stopped doing party bags at about age 7. Having a close friend or 2 for pizza and a movie night sounds great. Why the unhappy face at the idea?

I bought some of these to use as party bags for ds's 4th birthday, then filled them full of cheap sweets from Tesco/Costco/£1 shop..they went down really well, and were popular with parents too...no plastic tat!

The best best party we've been to recently was a picnic at the beach. They did a b simple treasure hunt,,where the kids found buckets, spades and stuff, and just played happily. You could maybe do at a park or castle or something if you not near sea?

For the last two years we have taken DS and a friend out for the day, we went to RAF Cosford this year ( it has free entrance) and it was really good. We took a picnic.

Buy books in bulk from Red House/The Book People (they do sets) then give one as a party bag substitute. At that age they are too old to be conned by piles of plastic tat.
