Dd wants to go to Nandos for her birthday, wants to take X friends (exact number and identity will be next on the crisis list) Nandos isn't cheap, all those extras add up, so I want to limit the spend to £10 per kid (ideally less if I thought I could get away with it) . The kids would have £10 each to spend and then have to top up for extras. Is this completely mad/ unreasonable/too cheap to think of? (Sorry to post in two threads, I was looking for a Total Cheapskate thread but couldnt find one Blush)

I'd tell her the number you're prepared to pay for. Check out what they could have for that and maybe order some extra high-carb sides to fill up/look generous.

I think that seems reasonable. How would you do it? Give each child a tenner and leave them to order themselves? Or tell them to keep their choice under £10?

Either that or decide how much you are willing to spend, say for arguments sake £100. She can either have 10 friends who can spend £10 each or 5 who can spend £20. Her choice.

I think you will really struggle to get a meal, drink and dessert for £10 each, they are really not cheap.

Perhaps it would be better to get the platters to share for them and share sides like chips, sweetcorn etc.

Apiece of chicken,2 sides and a bottomless drink = £10
A chicken burger,2 sides and a bottomless drink =£10.65

Best to invite fewer friends and not be feeling stingy about the party food.
