Can I just say a big THANKYOU to people that donate their old kids clothes.

If I buy new for the kids its in the sales, as cheap as can be, but for other bits we check the charity shops.

I'm expecting a son after a daughter sand have no boy stuff (my DS is older now and I got rid of his baby stuff) I never would be able to kit him out in new stuff, probably not even Primani,

But the charity shop had a basket full of gorgeous boys stuff, next, gap, mini mode etc and I got about 20 items for a fiver including a coat!
So am very happy.
Just wanted to say thanks to the people who donate.

you're very welcome :) we always either pass on clothes to firends with younger ones or donate, tending to be a combination of the two, and people pass to us too so our kids are by no means in brand spanking new clothes all the time

That's nice. I alway take my DDs stuff to the Salvation Army shop. Some of it has never even been worn, and I always hope it finds a good home Smile

I dressed DD in all new (though fairly cheap) stuff. When DS was born two of my friends gave us loads of stuff for him and I've hardly had to buy anything.

Am going to split clothes among refuges/shelters as I've heard some charity shops throw things away if they aren't absolutely perfect

Gave some books to DDs preschool last term and the other day I saw all the children thoroughly enjoying them :)

That's great to hear - I always take my DS's clothes* to charity shops (by the way, I always buy MY OWN clothes from charity shops so thank you to all the adults who donate fab stuff as well Grin).

*Although I have to admit they are hand me downs or charity stuff in the first place Blush.

I always take mine and my childrens old clothes to our local YMCA shop - they have some fantastic stuff, i often buy bits and pieces for my home from there too!!

oxfam on line is fab for clothes, books, home stuff- they have all the oxfam shops in the country on the site and you can search by size, brand and condition.

we inherit a lot of ours from a friend - lovely stuff and some of it not even used Shock
We always pass stuff on - either to friends who need it eg school uniform, or freecycle or charity shop. Little ones' stuff is never ever worn much and so much nicer if it can be passed on and have someone else enjoy it too.

I send our no longer needed items to our local womens refugee.

We have 3 charity shops here but I haven't managed to find anything for myself, I did get DD3 a really nice waterproof coat though.

Ah that is good to hear that it is appreciated. I hand down some stuff but donate as much as I can as well. About to take a bag down to the charity shop this week, including a lovely 6-12 month Jo Jo maman bebe velour all in one. Was hoping someone would like it. Have some lovely little boden t shirts as well which may be next, but I keep squeezing the baby into them!

i love going to charity shops but can never seem to find a bargain in clothes but always in toys and books. i too am expecting a new baby and would love to find some unisex baby grows etc but no look so far. serves me right for giving dd's away as i didnt think another would happen for us. i am always the last to get a bargain anyway but admire anyone who can find one. my sister is great.i have friend who wont go into charity shops (snobs) and i feel sorry for them i personally think they are great. i stopped giving dd's clothes to friends as i got the impression they were not used by them so now take to charity shops. my dd loves to go as the girls in the shop make a fuss of her and she loves to give them her unwanted items. i think its a great community thing to do.

i always put mine on freecycle and it is amazing how many people i have to disappoint every time. but i also receive stuff on it and am grateful so good to be able to help each other out.

Always rummage around charity shops myself, coats especially are a bargain. But do drop off too. Some of my 2 DC clothes are now on their fourth wearing by friends DC. I think it's great!

I love charity shops and buy from them even though we have a high income. I see the same clothes as every other kid in school but charity shops have the things from five years ago, in perfect nick so my kids look dapper :) And it's a shame to throw clothes away so we send ours to the charity shop as well, or give them to local families with kids a size smaller.

Always grateful to friends that have given so many super clothes, shoes, books and toys. I recently gave away everything dd had grown out of (apart from her first few things) and my preg clothes (apart from those I still wear as they are comfy) Hopefully will help someone else.

I donate clothes to charity shops very regularly (about every 3 months a couple of black bin bags full).

This is not just DD's clothes but DH's and mine as well.

I am glad that it gets 'loved' again.

Glad they are going to a good home. I always feel as if children grow so quickly, childrens clothes need lots of children to get the wear out of them!!

I picked up an immaculate rancoat from M&S Autograph range for DD in a charity shop near me. We are super skint at the mo and it will see her through the spring. So grateful to those who donate.

I am very lucky that I have a close friend who gives me bin bags full of clothes that her DS's has grown out of. And when DS is out of them, they get a final careful wash and iron and off to the charity shop they go.. Nothing wrong with them, and sure to be good for another boy! Grin

And I also then buy from charity shops too. I got a goooorgeous knitted jumper for DS for this winter for 50p Shock The wool alone to knit it must have cost about £8. I offered to pay £1.50 (or indeed more!) but the shop assistants wouldn't accept it

Our charity shop is really expensive! I saw a dress I liked and they wanted £8.50 for it! I also saw a jacket for £12.

I've had to resort to ebay!

I love our charity shops. BUT I think that I am lucky - I am in the Midlands and we get loads of good stuff here. A good friend of mine lives near Guildford and hers are full of tat - we reckon all the good stuff gets ebayed...
