Anyone had covid recently?

I've had a sore throat for just over a week that isn't getting any better, and a slightly hoarse voice. I had a bit of a runny nose for the first few days, but it doesn't feel like a cold. I just wondered if anyone else has had similar symptoms recently, and if so, was it covid?

8 days
and then cleared up very quickly

I hope mine clears up soon, whatever it is. I feel thoroughly miserable with it!

I've got the same symptoms and it's covid. My throat feels like I've swallowed razor blades. No loss of taste or smell, but I've also got a runny nose, cough and fever.

It's horrible, isn't it? I can't remember having a throat this bad for years. I've had it for over a week, and it's showing no signs of getting any better. How long have you had the sore throat?

My DH tested positive 3 weeks ago today - really sore throat, headache, eye pain, aches, fever, knackered, felt lousy. He felt really unwell for a good 2 weeks & still not 100%.

Spicedpear · 15/10/2025 16:41

I’m on day 4 of Covid - all the symptoms inc loss of taste. Much improved tho so hoping back to normal soon.

Yes me and several friends we were all together but were all well.3 days later sore throat, cough which was still is awful awake all night.Very tired and no energy.Awful symptoms seems worse than before when I had COVID.10 days today and still coughing.Going to try and keep away from groups in closed in areas for a while.Staff in hospital appear not to be wearing masks is this a mistake as so many people are very unwell with it.

It really is awful. I'm only on day 3 with the sore throat and was hoping it wouldn't last much longer!

I've got it right now. It's like a heavy miserable cold. I only tested because I literally just had a cold about 12 days ago and thought I couldn't possibly be that unlucky. I haven't been able to smell or taste anything since yesterday. On/off runny, stuffy nose. Blocked ears. Scratchy voice and heavy chest with tickly cough. Been ill for about 5 days now. Started with a sore throat but definitely not a "shards of glass" type sore throat I had the first time I had Covid.

Shhhhitsmagic · 15/10/2025 19:51

I've tested positive today. I just got over a cold a couple of days ago then all the cold symptoms suddenly came back along with a fever, headache, extreme fatigue and generally feeling like the worst hangover ever. Weirdly haven't lost my sense of smell or taste this time!

We have all had a bad cold/lurgy in our house. Maybe covid, we don’t test.

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 15/10/2025 20:02

I was ill for a couple of weeks with what I assumed was a cold. When it refused to bugger off I did a test and it was positive. Ten days later (last Saturday), I tested again, expecting the all clear but it was still positive, which explains why I still feel like shit.

My nose is slightly less blocked, lungs slightly less wheezy, not coughing as much in the night (though that may be down to having finally invested in a bottle of Night Nurse), I'm wondering if I can be bothered testing for a third time this coming weekend in order to get the all clear.

The dentist wants me to come for a check up, and I need to organise a flu vaccine so it does seem sensible to test first before breathing on people. I have 8 different auto-immune conditions, so my immune system is a bit rubbish at clearing infections, and I don't want to be responsible for making other people sick with this horrid virus.
