Has anyone else had a horrible respiratory illness recently? Coming up for 2 weeks proper for me. Around mid Feb I had a dry sore throat and felt woolly headed one morning but it didn't come to anything. A week later came down with heavy cold, very run down, followed quickly by a constant persistent chesty cough and bringing up mucus. No fever but tired, breathless going up stairs. Chest clear at the doctors surgery, who thought it was bronchitis. Prescribed nasal spray for blocked ears. My head is absolutely pounding every morning, my face and throat hurt from all the coughing and I've put my back out! The cough is clearing somewhat but still there and is bad at night so I'm not sleeping well.

Tomorrow is 2 weeks since I started with the proper symptoms but I'm about 3 weeks on that initial throat tickle. Husband has had all of the same about a week before me and he's still not fully well. I had flu jab in January.

I have a work trip tomorrow but I'm considering cancelling it. I'm worn out and feel particularly bad in the mornings due to the lack of sleep. Also still have the occasional coughing fit so could I still be contagious? I can't tell if it's post viral yet. Starting to think it might have been Covid given the fact it seems to get better then comes back.

if you need to know if it was Covid, you should have done a test.
However there are plenty of other unpleasant respiratory illnesses which aren't Covid.
Hopefully you'll be in the mend soon either way.

I have something similar at the moment, day 7 today, tested negative for Covid.
I've been having lots of ginger which does seem to be helping.
My DS had it too and it took him 3 weeks to recover, again he tested negative.
I hope you start feeling better soon.

Does it matter if it's Covid?

DD and DH both have exactly the same symptoms and it's Influenza A. Two colleagues have also been swabbed with respiratory illnesses (vulnerable due to underlying issues) and it's Influenza A. Paramedic BIL says they were seeing unprecedented levels in our local hospital and they closed wards because of it recently.

I've had something similar for about 5 weeks(!) but I didn't rest properly, as I had a holiday booked and around that my work was busy. I've never blown my nose so much in my life. I started exercising last week on feeling better and it set me back. So I'm not allowing myself to exercise as I'm sick of feeling like this.
