Tested positive today with some new tests but think I am on around day 5. Bloody horrendous almost as bad as the first time I had it. Fever, throat, nose, nausea. And we are supposed to carry on as normal!!

This is the NHS advice https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/covid-19/covid-19-symptoms-and-what-to-do/. Includes advice to rest, drink fluids, painkillers, try to stay at home if you feel ill etc etc. It does not say carry on as normal if you have symptoms.

Rest up and I hope you feel better soon.

sleepyscientist · 17/10/2024 19:30

Currently infected very out of breath (usual clue for me) no cold like symptoms other than the fever....prefer this variant to last years which was flu like.

chipsewfast · 17/10/2024 20:17

We have it too. Day 4. Felt pretty rough. Fortunately I can wfh. Husband was told from manager the advice now is to go to work as normal. He hasn't. Same symptoms as when we last had it 2.5 years ago except more on the chest.

HundredMilesAnHour · 18/10/2024 16:14

I've just had it. It was horrendous and I was ill with flu like symptoms for 2 bloody weeks! This is the 4th time I've had it and by far the worst.

Thommasina · 22/10/2024 09:49

I tested positive on Sunday evening. I have never tested positive before, so there's that, yay. Had a definite sore throat Sat morning. Felt as though I had a bad cold. Sunday felt rough with a fever. Sunday night and Monday feverish but kept under control with lemsip. Have stayed in bed. Feel a bit better today. Have a bad ringing in ears and feel a bit spaced. No brain fog though. Have an annoying dry cough and sore chest muscles.

Day 12 - finally clear! It was bloody awful.

Tested positive this morning, like 2 years ago it started with the worst headache, for the last 2 days I’ve fallen asleep at any chance I can get, my ears and throat are so sore and I have a runny nose etc, I envy the people that have no symptoms or mild symptoms, also to add, I’ve had a fever for 2 days also, I feel like I’m getting worse, not improving. The last time I had it 2 years ago, an awful chest infection developed from it which took 3 courses of antibiotics to clear and went on for months, I’m dreading what’s to come and hoping so much that that won’t happen this time. I feel like it’s sucked the life out of me, just typing all of this! I hope everyone else suffering, gets well soon 🌷

Thommasina · 26/10/2024 15:11

Tested clear yesterday.
So a week later and I feel OK now. Not back to normal, but able to do all the things I normally do. Took the dogs for a long walk and I'm tired now but OK. Still have a bit of a cough.

It seemed to clear really quickly- felt awful on Mon, Tues, Wed. Was able to get up and potter a bit on Thursday. Friday felt OK and today I'm fineish.

Now just dreading dh getting it as obviously he will have it worse than anyone else ever 🙃

Ls005 · 30/10/2024 17:47

I tested positive for it last Wednesday (week ago) and it felt pretty unwell - spent Wednesday to Friday in bed. Feeling much better now and testing negative. I am left with an upset tummy (throwing probiotics at it like there is no tomorrow and eating plain food) and the odd time where I feel a bit flushed and/or have chills. Still have a little bit of a cough but well enough overall to drive, work, go about life as I would. I just need a bit more sleep than normal.

Has anyone had really bad depression and anxiety with their Covid? I’m really struggling now with it, it’s been a week since I tested and the worst symptoms I have now are anxiety and depression and feeling really weird.

Lots of people talk about that in this thread -

@Annabellouise I haven’t had depression as such but I have found myself anxious about catching something else since having covid last week. I seem to be aware of catching something else more than usual. I have put it down to not wanting to feel as unwell as I did with covid last week.

DH has also told me I’m glass half empty or whatever the negative and dower phrase is - I’ve put that down to feeling very tired as I currently do. It’s like everything for me is not bad enough to stop me but I feel certain things lingering and I’m irritable and down as a result

bluebathrobes · 02/11/2024 17:49

Tested positive on Wednesday. Felt so awful with killer sore throat. Still testing positive but feeling so much better but tried to garden earlier and felt exhausted after just an hour Blush

morbidd · 02/11/2024 18:01

Just tested positive. I'm like a snotty hot water bottle.

Autumnleaveswhenthegrassisjewelled · 03/11/2024 18:19

Hiya, not done any tests as I can't reach the right spots without retching or recoiling, but pretty sure I have it from what everyone has been saying.

Started with a sore throat last week Thursday. Woke up with it pretty bad Friday. Just kept going with headache and cough, runny nose etc. Saturday I lost my voice. Lost my taste for one night somewhere in the middle, then it came back.

As of today- 11 days later, I've got the runny nose, lack of voice and slight dry cough, but also extreme fatigue. Nearly fell asleep earlier. Just been in bed doing nothing. Now I've just been trying to tidy a little and have slightly more energy than before but still feeling wiped out.

I think it's my first time having it. Every time I've been ill with a virus or flu, my body has just had the aches, shivers and made me sleep, and I usually feel quite positive, and the feeling is quite a familiar one of just needing to sleep off the illness. This however, just felt like a really heavy cold but with extreme fatigue. Where I could keep going if I wanted to, but instinct told me not to. But oh the anxiety and depression! I was on my better help therapy on Tuesday feeling so sorry for myself and she said it's the virus. She must've known as she's used to me being quite upbeat and she said she had it herself a few weeks before. The melancholy feeling is starting to go now.

Annabellouise · 06/11/2024 06:07

Thank you so much for this.

Katesboots · 06/11/2024 07:21

I tested positive with covid for the first time. I'm pretty sure I've not had it previously as had to test for work all the way through and always had a negative test and never had any of the symptoms. My covid symptoms haven't been too bad at all, mainly fatigue and loss of taste and smell. My taste and smell came back fairly quickly but this morning I was drinking my coffee and can't taste or smell it. Yesterday at work someone commented on a strong smell which I couldn't smell but didn't think anything of it at the time. Have done a covid test before leaving for work and it's negative. Just want to check if anyone has had similar and is it normal for taste and smell to come and go?

JosieRay · 07/11/2024 18:50

I tested positive on October 11th. I had a bad headache followed by fatigue that lasted for about a week. Soon after that I noticed that my heart was racing when I went upstairs, followed by chest pains and palpitations. Over the last few days I now also have tingling going randomly up and down my legs. The doctor thinks that they are post viral responses and should get better.
Blood tests are all normal apart from raised cholesterol. However an ECG that I had on Tuesday labels the results ‘borderline’. I’m hoping to get back to my GP tomorrow to see if that’s ok.
I have never had these worrying symptoms before I had Covid. People keep telling me it’s just a cold…well, maybe it was for them!
My sense of smell and taste have been fine, plus I didn’t lose my appetite. Just these worrying heart symptoms.
