Anyone else got better then worse again within 5 days of Covid?

Hello.
I’ve had Covid since Saturday. I had a temperature, aches and a very sore throat. I started to slowly feel better then on Day 4, I got a sore throat and went downhill again? I’m also on medication for thyroid issues, not sure if that complicates this horrid Covid.
Has anyone else started to feel better then felt awful again?

I had three months of it earlier this year. Covid knocked my immune system and ever time I thought I felt a bit more normal, wham, I had another cold. And I rarely get colds. I felt like I'd never get better but, of course, I did in the end!

You'd be amazed at the number of people I met who had the same. Not that it made me feel any better!

HowMuchGravy · 26/09/2024 12:34

Yes I've had that all 3 times I've had it and DH has too. Quite normal sadly.

It really was the gift that kept on giving with me, new symptom every day!

Yellowbrixlane · 26/09/2024 12:53

Yes this! Definitely the gift that keeps giving. I’ve had sore throat, aches, temperature, tummy upset, started to feel better. Then back to sore throat. Oh, I’ve even had mouth ulcers too this time too. 😭

The posts on here are all very familiar to me, at least this time around- previous covid experience was ok but I was vaccinated
like @ForPearlViper found, I'm in throes of it 9 weeks post first symptom- getting steadily better but with lots of slipping back. Pearl, I'm reassured that you've come through it and that many people you know have had similar!
OP, I hope yours is of shorter duration - it may well be but at least you're forearmed with the knowledge that it could linger- I started to question my sanity and just general health but I know it's covid and I haven't really become an old woman in the last couple of months.

Yellowbrixlane · 26/09/2024 18:11

Oh no! 9 weeks post first symptom! You poor thing!!
I’m struggling to work out what is Covid, thyroid and menopause! The perfect mixture. My immune system was already struggling before Covid. This is my third time and certainly the worst. Not made it back to work yet and really thought I’d be back on my feet by now. My throat is on fire this evening. It’s the yoyo symptoms that’s floored me. Sounds daft saying one day that I’m getting better then the next I am worse than day 1 😭

I’ve been feeling terrible for over a week and yes, sometimes feel like I’m a bit better and then it hits me in a new wave of misery! Bunged up, sore throat, all over body aches, headache, just a lovely bit of everything.

Also thyroid-y and menopause-y so like you, feels like I’m totally falling apart. I’ve had so many illnesses lately, I’ve had to quit my job this week as I just can’t keep letting them down with one illness after another.

DreamHolidays · 26/09/2024 18:37

Unfortunately pretty normal.

I’d be very careful not to do too much until you REALLY feel better. Doing too much too soon seems to make things 100x worse

llamali · 26/09/2024 18:38

Yes. Day 5 is when it gets worse or better in my experience

BigDahliaFan · 26/09/2024 18:39

Dh is on day 5 and seems to be getting worse....and we are supposed to be away on holiday next week....he isn't looking up for it.

Yellowbrixlane · 26/09/2024 20:20

Oh no! I hope things improve and you make the holiday.
It’s such an unpredictable illness.

Just checking OP that you are not on Carbimazole for your thyroid? If you are I'm sure you know anyway that if you have symptoms like you are having you should get checked and bloods. Sorry if I'm saying what you already know.
