When to test after contact

Hi, I need to update myself as haven’t had contact (knowingly) with covid for ages. A friend who we saw on Monday tested positive middle of Monday night. So far, have tested negative. How much more should we test? Obvs if we have symptoms but tbh it’s quite hard to tell as I get hormonal and hayfever headaches and sniffles. Also I have never tested positive (even though I’m convinced I had it when DH had it a few years ago). It is important for me to have a regime to manage my health anxiety (as I can start to feel ill even if not)
thanks

So your not sick? Forget all about it and carry on as normal. What a non issue

There is no requirement to test any more, and most places just treat covid the same as colds/flu. As you know, tests are not entirely reliable. However, I appreciate you have health anxiety and therefore you may feel more of a need to know. If you have picked it up then days 5/6/7 after infection are likely to be peak virus concentration and most likely to be detected by a lateral flow.

Unless you spending tims with someone very vunerable then I wouldn’t test. Otherwise, it used to take 5 days from
exposure to illness.
