Help! I've got COVID and been feeling pretty lousy since Friday. Seems like symptoms are common to what a few ppl have said already on here. At first I thought it was hayfaver but then felt feverish, achy and now just feel totally wiped out.

Wondering - for those who have had it - how long they were out of action for? I'm trying really hard to rest and not panic about work, parenting etc etc but it's hard and keep worrying about how I'll cope if not back on my feet soon.

I was really unwell with Delta and out for about a month last year when I got it so hoping for a bit of a better ride this time! Fingers crossed x

Oh how awful
I hope you don’t mind me asking what type of infection as I’m wondering how f it’s the same for me

Grazie234 · 15/07/2024 18:00

I'm joining here, I've been feeling crap for weeks, started with what I thought was a cold and concurrently joined a new gym. I thought I was on the mend but realised that what I thought was DOMS was actually all over body aches, then came headaches, insomnia, nausea, being off my food, all the usual covid crap. I've had it at least twice before and this is by far the worst. I think I'm over 5 weeks in have daily one sided temple pain that I think must be sinusitis. I only caught the tail end of LFT positives but those being negative have not improved how I feel.

ruthietoothie · 15/07/2024 18:49

@molly5678 so sorry you three weeks in and still feeling bad. I'm about 3.5 weeks in now and have good and worse days but generally still very tired and achy and got weird symptoms that come and go. I'm finding the worry about it the hardest part. Thinking when will it end and when will I feel back to myself again.

@Grazie234 so sorry you've been suffering too. Five weeks is so long. This is my third infection and the second worst. But does feel like it's properly wiped me. Have you found anything that helps?

@ThankGodForDancingFruit so glad you are better. Being poorly with a baby to care for is no fun.

It’s strep throat. Definitely don’t discount other infections if you’ve had Covid

molly5678 · 15/07/2024 21:19

sp sorry to hear people are suffering so much with this

@ruthietoothie I know exactly what you mean…..worried I’ll be like this forever

How is everyone doing now? I'm just over six weeks in and still struggling with fatigue and really strong achiness in parts of my body, especially my legs. How is everyone else doing? Properly recovered? @Angieyy1 @Hungrycaterpillarsmummy @ApolloandDaphne @ArseInTheCoOpWindow @Endsofbells @Forhecksake @GlomOfNit @Jimmychoo69 @Lalarara10 @Noosnom @Upinthenightagain

I never developed symptoms with it in the end and tested negative just a few days later. Seem to be the anomaly though as everyone else I know has felt very unwell with it!

I'm OK although I still haven't got my sense of smell of taste back and my muscles ache in my legs when I walk. Oh I also have a pounding heart and a little breathless when walking up stairs. I have have asked my doctor for some blood tests and will go for them this week. I have been anemic in the past so it might just be that. It's worth asking your doctor to do a full blood count. Sorry your not feeling great. Metatonic or metatone ( it's one of them ) is great for after illnesses have a read on it see if it might benefit you

Cattyisbatty · 28/07/2024 20:59

Day 2 for me today.

Tested positive this morning. Had an absolutely streaming nose yesterday like a tap. Dh was side eyeing me and said they were his symptoms when he had it a few weeks ago. I’ve been quite sleepy but otherwise ok.

Will wfh but not go in this week as long as I don’t feel worse. This is my 3rd time, possibly 4th. The 2nd one did me in (two years ago), but subsequent infections have been milder.

goingtohellinahandcart · 28/07/2024 21:23

Had Covid middle of June, still very tired(9+ hours sleep every night) and getting frequent random bouts of nausea, dizziness, light-headedness and feeling unsteady. Dd2(18) had it about a week after me and is also still suffering.

Know other people who are also still suffering

Jimmychoo69 · 29/07/2024 15:59

@ruthietoothie , it seems ever ending. All recovered, but all three of us are so easily tired.

colouringindoors · 21/09/2024 16:01

@ruthietoothie @molly5678 Just wondered how you are both doing now? I've had it v similar to for last 2+ weeks. Exhaustion is insane and I'm panicking as no real improvement...

molly5678 · 22/09/2024 09:37

Took a good month to be fully over it , really hope it passes for you soon

colouringindoors · 22/09/2024 12:59

Flipflop85 · 22/09/2024 13:43

I felt like I had a cold starting Wednesday night and woke up on Thursday morning with bloodshot eyes and a blocked nose, dry throat but not sore. I was thankfully working from home on Thursday and when I had a few high heart rate notifications from my watch thought I better test. Felt a bit rubbish on Thursday and by Friday it was just my nose that was bothering me. Back to normal now thankfully.

ruthietoothie · 29/09/2024 10:11

@colouringindoors how are you faring now? I think it took me a month or so and now there months in I still feel more fatigued than I normally would. Such a horrid horrid virus x

@ruthietoothie thanks so much for asking. I thought i was doing better, but visited my parents yesterday and now feel really bad again 😢 headache and fatigue are relentless. Glad to hear you're doing better than you were, hope that continues.

Really horrid debilitating virus.

colouringindoors · 02/10/2024 14:32

Ongoing here.... severe headache and fatigue much worse again after visiting my parents for lunch Sunday. But at least I've stopped crying...

Meadowfinch · 02/10/2024 14:47

It'll be three weeks tomorrow.

I'm 61 and this is the first time I've caught it.

Week 1 - high temperature, aching kidneys, pounding head, off food, slept 18 hours a day. Felt horrendous.
Week 2 - much better as long as I kept still. If I tried to exert myself, temp went up, back to sweating & headache.
Week 3 - hacking cough but my appetite is back. Pottering around the house.

Ivyy · 06/10/2024 14:52

I had a weird experience, when dd got covid a few weeks ago I felt really fluey and feverish, thought I was getting it too but after about 4 days of that felt pretty normal again.
Then dh went down with covid too, clearly caught from dd, he was very poorly which is unlike him, and unlike dd he was constantly sneezing. After a few days of this I started to feel fluey again, dizzy, sore throat etc, and from there went downhill with a horrible case of covid.
All I can think is that my body was able to fight off what I was exposed to of the virus by dd, but then dh sneezing everywhere was too much viral load for my immune system to fight off?
Anyway it's been a grim few weeks with all of us ill one after the other. If I count the part where I first felt unwell then rallied I'm at 3 weeks now and still struggling with extreme fatigue, dizziness and just feel completely floored, but I do have chronic health conditions. Still have a lot of sinus pain and congestion and blocked ears too. Dd and dd are back to normal, about 2 weeks to recover for them.

colouringindoors · 08/10/2024 10:53

Five weeks tomorrow 😔 Just tried to get a GP appt as still have severe fatigue and headache. 22 October is first available. 😰

LaurieFairyCake · 08/10/2024 11:00

Just had it and been ill two weeks with crippling fatigue. And by that I mean I can't be arsed to even make myself tea or food so I've gone without.

I had a doctors appointment for this morning to get a fit note for work but I've cancelled it as I've finally got enough energy to eat and get food

Still got a crippling headache though and 10 hours of work ahead of me

LadyLolaRuben · 08/10/2024 21:57

I've got this new strain of covid19 and it's floored me. I work in nhs so we need to test to protect the extremely vulnerable. Tested positive on Saturday but feeling ropy from Thursday. But was well the week before and I'm wondering if that was the start of it. Sick of feeling sick. Can't even sleep at night to recover due to coughing.
