Day 16 new COVID strain

Starfish125 · 07/06/2024 18:00

Omg I am getting fed up! Does anyone else have symptoms like this?

  • Runny nose
  • Constant headache
  • Sinus pressure
  • Fatigue *Brain fog *Slight cough with a little phlegm but nothing big And the weirdest one yet, tingling/like goosebump feeling especially over my shins? Wtf?

But no temperature, sore throat or body aches.

It's the most bizarre COVID virus I've had, I've had a quite a few as I work on a respiratory ward (I'm a nurse) but I honestly didn't think it was COVID as it normally hits me like a truck with symptoms subsided after a few days, but this seems to linger but isn't as bad iyswim? I just want to feel back to normal.

The only reason I took a test was because someone mentioned the new COVID strain having strange symptoms and boom it was positive!

Sorry to jump in but did anyone have a really dry throat? I’m sneezing my head off and I have an awful headache and blocked nose. Only started today and test is negative. Ohhh please let it stay that way. Hope you’re all feeling a little better ❤️

Yes really dry throat/mouth here for a few days. Thought I had hay fever right at the start and tested positive, then later that day felt awful. Felt really rough first 5 days. High temp, cough etc but now much better. Dh had it too but hasn’t had everything I’ve had.

Noosnom · 15/06/2024 12:41

Day 6. I'm feeling much better now. Still very snotty and coughing, but I've been out for a walk yesterday and today.
It's triggered some palpitations though.

hazelnutfriday · 15/06/2024 12:47

I'm on week 2, and still have upset stomach and joint pain

Ilovegoodison · 15/06/2024 14:24

I tested positive yesterday after initially having a mild sore throat on Thursday. This rapidly progressed during Thursday night to a throat that felt like razor- blades when I swallowed,an almost unbearable headache and now today a really runny nose and dry cough. Had covid once before about 2 and a half years ago and feel much worse this time. Hope everyone feels better soon- it's horrible!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 15/06/2024 14:49

Oh, I've had that this week.

Headache and face pain last Saturday, took Sudafed, two paracetamol, then had another dose just before bed, followed by one in the morning. Felt a bit tired/off colour/thirsty and had a brief but intense bout of stomach pain/upset on Wednesday evening and then I've been fine since yesterday.

Wouldn't have fancied it unvaccinated.

Toasticles · 15/06/2024 14:56

Teenaged DC and I have COVID courtesy of DH who brought it back from Poland last week. We have tested and tests came up strong positive immediately. DH had a headache, sore throat and runny nose for 48 hours. I had mild sore throat (no tonsils!), a day of chills and racing heart, but worst issue for me is the most dreadful ear pressure and accompanying dizziness. I am in a boiling shower 3x daily to try to get some relief. I can't hear a thing and have also lost my sense of smell.

DC had dry throat and has a dry cough but isn't too bad ATM.

LakeFlyPie · 15/06/2024 15:04

I had the weird tingling shins with V.1 in April 2020.
Currently willing myself not to catch the current variant that DH has (strongly +ve test yesterday after ~ 4 days of general snuffling and headaches).
Got all the windows open and it's bloody freezing

findingmoi · 15/06/2024 16:04

Think we've all come down with Covid then, in 25 weeks pregnant and haven't been able to move today. Aches all over, paracetamol (all I can take) isn't helping, very foggy and congested head/ears, also nose from time to time. Chest hurts and coughing, sneezing, sore throat. DH feels awful too, so goes DC (20 months). Parenting when all unwell is the pits. Father's Day almost definitely cancelled tomorrow. Now to beg the restaurant to give me our deposit back.

lovemycbf · 15/06/2024 16:15

I was really unwell a few weeks ago and I'm sure it was covid but every test was negative
I had a raging sore throat, fever, swollen glands which then progressively got worse and I ended up with a sinus, throat and middle ear infection which gave me vertigo, had a course of antibiotics, ear spray and steroid nasal spray but it's taken six weeks for my ear to feel normal again

Starfish125 · 15/06/2024 16:35

Sorry to hear you are all poorly! Today is the first day that I haven't had the left sided sinus headache, as it would seem it was going but then come back at some point in the day but not today, I also don't have the fuzzy head/muggy feeling or the extreme fatigue but it lasted over 3 weeks I'm hoping this is the end of it now!

Just pulled a test out, and I've got Covid :( the only other time I had it was when I was pregnant with DS. It's much harder this time around...

Yes very dry throat. I take two waters to bed routinely but only ever drink one and got through both and needed a refill. Not stopped drinking all day. Tested positive.

Wafflesandcrepes · 16/06/2024 14:31

DH, DD and I all have Covid. DD had never had it before.

When I first had it - nearly two years ago - I wouldn’t have known it was Covid but for the tests. This time feels very different. Strong chills, stomach upset, nausea, fever, sore throat and… a funny tingling sensation on my legs when in contact with clothes or bedsheets.

Really hope we will be better next Sunday when we’re due to go to the Eras Tour!

Hope you all feel better very soon!

Noosnom · 16/06/2024 14:35

Everyone is so much further away from booster jabs now.
I've had flu once (millennium) but covid twice in 18 months, both times ill enough to be off sick for 3 days. Does my head in.

Day 7 and it's just a head cold now thank heavens. Won't go running until next weekend but will do an easy gym session mid-week.

Toasticles · 16/06/2024 14:56

I am feeling a bit better today - still experiencing ear pressure and still no sense of smell but otherwise ok. Racked with sneezes every now and again but just like a head cold now.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 16/06/2024 16:46

I’m on day 14 now have finally started to feel better in the evenings. Still having coughing fits, but able to sleep lying down again. My ears are ringing and one sounds like a squeaky toy when I try to unblock it. Weird to think there were three days in the middle when I felt basically fine, like the eye of the storm before it got much worse.

defnotadomesticgoddess · 16/06/2024 18:01

I’m on day 8. Smell & taste starting to come back slightly. No temperatures anymore or feeling freezing cold. Still coughing. Throat really red and dry mouth. Tried to do a bit of gardening this morning, then had wobbly legs and had to go for a sleep.

Yes my first sign was very sore throat and rasping voice. I thought it was hayfever and took hay fever tabs which didn’t help. Finally took covid test after 5 days of feeling really weak, headachey and cold (thought feeling cold was the weather!) and yes, it was positive! No tingling legs. Feel bad that I have probably been spreading it around cos I thought it was just hay fever initially. Husband has had more vaccines cos older and he hasn’t caught it yet 🤞

hazelnutfriday · 17/06/2024 09:40

I honestly dont know what day I am on - about 15 maybe? feeling better but it hurts to move my legs - still coughing

AceofPentacles · 17/06/2024 20:27

I came down with aches, fever and chills and terrible headache yesterday, just like the first time 2.5 years ago. DP also has it, we've never had it at the same time before .
Really hoping I recover by Saturday as we have a dream holiday booked :(

Bringonthesunforthewashing · 17/06/2024 20:37

Pleased could anyone say how long before a positive test?

My dt 13 have had covid. My head is banging, chills, feels like inside my head is too hot, pins and needles in my fingers on both hands, nausea and feeling dreadful. Negative tests.

started feeling poorly last night

findingmoi · 17/06/2024 20:46

In case anyone would like hope. I wasn't feeling myself back end of last week, then on Saturday totally KO'd.
could barley move, tested positive, aching all over, head cold symptoms and in 2nd trimester with a 1 year old to look after.
DH is also ill but stepped up so I could rest.
I got lots of sleep Saturday (fell asleep on sofa at 8-10pm) then full nights sleep 11-6am.
Miraculously on Sunday I felt awful first thing but paracetamol saved me and by Sunday evening I was finishing work for a cannot miss meeting this morning.
Not only did I make the meeting, I had planned to cancel the rest of my calls and rest but I felt fine. Did a full days work, no paracetamol today.
It's nothing like when I had it with DS, was bed ridden for a week, and off work even longer and I always said it was due to pregnancy but not this time. Phew.
I'm sure the exposure to it has a huge part to play.

pearlsundersea · 18/06/2024 01:04

I'm on day 18, still symptomatic and still testing positive.

Still negative and went to the doctors and have a viral infection, I’m now so breathless and on steroids. I have asthma so I’m hoping I stay out of hospital. How are you feeling now?

findingmoi · 18/06/2024 07:30

@Tezz41 sorry to hear. DS has it or some kind of virus with a cough so was up in the night. I'm on very little sleep, so I've gone backwards. Felt like I had a cold yesterday and was surprised at how quickly I recovered vs last time.
