Day 16 new COVID strain

Starfish125 · 07/06/2024 18:00

Omg I am getting fed up! Does anyone else have symptoms like this?

  • Runny nose
  • Constant headache
  • Sinus pressure
  • Fatigue *Brain fog *Slight cough with a little phlegm but nothing big And the weirdest one yet, tingling/like goosebump feeling especially over my shins? Wtf?

But no temperature, sore throat or body aches.

It's the most bizarre COVID virus I've had, I've had a quite a few as I work on a respiratory ward (I'm a nurse) but I honestly didn't think it was COVID as it normally hits me like a truck with symptoms subsided after a few days, but this seems to linger but isn't as bad iyswim? I just want to feel back to normal.

The only reason I took a test was because someone mentioned the new COVID strain having strange symptoms and boom it was positive!

It's weird. Your symptoms are exactly how my DD is at the moment but I'm convinced hers is hayfever! Any chance you've got a mild Covid infection with hayfever on top? Worth trying a nasal spray?

shewolfmum · 07/06/2024 23:05

Yes..but I did have a temp and deep aches in my legs for 3 days. My head is so weird and my ear feels blocked up....no energy blurgh

I don't think it's hayfever really my eyes aren't watering etc. does your daughter have the tingly legs? That's what's bothering me the most! I even went to the opticians in case they could spot MS early! #paranoid

No she doesn't have the tingly legs. Have you been sitting around more where you're usually on the move?

My DD spent quite a bit of time in hospital recently and I got tingly legs. I never did decide whether it was all the stress or the sitting on the edge of the bed a lot!

I'd always say though that if you're concerned, see your GP.

Starfish125 · 08/06/2024 09:59

It may well be that, it's hard to know what warrants a GP appointment or not! Working in the NHS I try not to bother them!

If she's been in hospital it's likely to be covid. The HAI we're not allowed to mention.

We're thankfully a few weeks clear of DD's most recent hospital admission.

While we were in we were plonked in shared rooms with kids with Covid, RSV and goodness knows what else.

Op do you have any joint pain?

I started feeling unwell last Friday with the worst headache I have ever had. Thought it was wisdom tooth related. However as the day and evening went on flu symptoms started. Headache, body aches, throat, cough, swollen glands and the most annoying tingly legs. Throughout the week all those symptoms persisted and I also had a couple of episodes of diarrhoea. Last night my joints started aching, particularly my thumbs, wrists, elbows and ankles. Honestly I've never felt this ill.

How are you feeling now?

If you haven't done a covid test don't rule out "slapped cheek"

BlackFriYay · 10/06/2024 13:52

My OH has a weird covid infection at the minute. He has none of the typical cold like symptoms that most of us had with the earlier variants, just back pain, feeling cold and having a high temperature.

I don't fancy another bout of covid, I'm already snowed under with three small DC, it's the last thing I need atm 🙁

I hope you shift it soon!

Noosnom · 11/06/2024 07:55

It turns out that I don't have hay-fever and it wasn't (just) overdoing it at the gym. Had a positive covid test first thing.
Throat feels puffy and sore too.

socks1107 · 11/06/2024 08:02

I've just had it and it was like a horrible head cold. I'm day 7 now and a bit of a tickle in my throat but otherwise back to normal!

BlackFriYay · 13/06/2024 09:34

I caught it from OH.

Painful body aches for the first 24 or so hours, runny nose, disturbed sleep, malaise and general feeling of being unwell. I'm on day 3 now and feel lightheaded as though I've blown up a ton of balloons 🤦🏼‍♀️

Noosnom · 13/06/2024 09:49

Day 4 here and no improvement. Fed up now.
The only interesting thing is looking at my fitbit stats and my increased heart rate.

Starfish125 · 13/06/2024 13:14

I'm definitely getting better but it's a slow process! The left sinus headache has pretty much gone, but I still feel a bit muzzy if you get me! Almost like lots of pressure on my face/eyes which makes me feel tired, I ended up being out on 5x days of antibiotics for possible sinus infection, I'm not sure it was as no temp or gunk but it certainly hasn't made me worse taking them. I still have the tingly shins but not as severe. Strange old virus!!

I’m on day 13 and feel awful. The initial Covid wasn’t much more than a cold, I even went to work on day 2 (I didn’t know it was Covid) and was up and about by day 4 doing a mammoth ironing session. The moment I tested on day 8 negative I felt worse. 4pm onwards I am hot, achy, breathless, coughing up nastiness, dizzy and have no appetite. In the morning I feel better but then get steadily worse with the day. My ear completely blocked up and got inflamed so I am on antibiotics for an infection. I had Covid last year and it didn’t come back like this. Worried that this might be the beginning of long Covid.

Noosnom · 13/06/2024 20:09

Sitting here adding wanky expensive smoothies to my supermarket delivery.

And increased the boxes of tissues.

I feel your pain, I didn't feel like I had COVID at all at the start, I took a swab when someone mentioned odd symptoms with the new strain and lo and behold it was positive but starting to fade. It's now negative, but the pressure is still very much here along with the horrible foggy brain/dizzy/muzzy feeling head!

Sorry to jump in but did anyone have a really dry throat? I’m sneezing my head off and I have an awful headache and blocked nose. Only started today and test is negative. Ohhh please let it stay that way. Hope you’re all feeling a little better ❤️

Apparently the tests don't pick up a lot of the new strain infections, atleast not for a while. I tested negative whilst I had full blown covid caught from a test positive OH.

subtletyisntlostonme · 14/06/2024 16:33

I had the weird tingly thing the first time I had Covid in 2021. It was at the end and went on for weeks.

BlackFriYay · 14/06/2024 22:50

Did anybody else notice an impact on mood? Apparently it's a thing, I looked it up after noticing a big dip in mental health the past two days.

I'm so irritable, frustrated and short tempered which is unlike me. I'm usually a placid and laid back person.
