Gone deaf in one ear!

I have covid. It started as a sore, tickly and dry throat, onto blocked noses on both sites and trying to get to the lungs. I’ve had a temperature for 3 days. Then yesterday my ear got really sore. It was sore for about 12 hours but now my ear is completely deaf. Anyone had that with Covid and did you restore hearing quickly?

I don't want to alarm you, but I think you should get this checked by a specialist immediately. It may well be Covid but it may also be a problem with the sensory organs. This is reversible if treated straight away (ie within hours) but otherwise it's permanent.

I permanently lost all the hearing in one ear in my 20s because it was misdiagnosed by my GP as being due to a cold.

You may be fine but in your position I'd be looking for a decent ENT department with a walk in emergency clinic.

I've just had this. Went to the doc post COVID hoping for antibiotics and he was nonplussed. 'viral'. Eyeroll. Recommended beconase which I was skeptical about but after using it religiously for three or so days it went. It was so annoying and disorientating. I did sort of massage my ear too. Ibuprofen. I'm still left with more mucus than I've ever had in my life. When I lost my sense of smell completely my nose ran and ran and ran. Now have a very mucusy cough and if I get tired my nose starts running again. No idea if hayfever but it definitely started with COVID.

Doc said inflammation of middle ear? It's been a terrible few months 😭. So yes Beconase up the nose - sort of goes in the ear from there.

Yes, I lost hearing in one ear with covid and it's not recovered much. Been investigated and no other cause found.

I've had this from covid (2022 infection). It does sometimes come back for a short while though. Hope you manage to get it sorted - if you do, please come back to this thread and tell what worked.
