DC fever after tests gone negative

DD and I both tested positive a week ago. I felt rough initially but she was fine. She only developed a fever 4/5 days in when her tests were already back to negative and I was starting to feel better. She's not feeling herself either. Has it gone like this for anyone else? Don't think we've been exposed to different bugs as haven't been anywhere. Not sure whether to bother the GP tomorrow or not. (By phone).

How old is she? How many days has she had fever? Is it not going down with paracetamol? Is she eating and drinking?

Hi @TeaKitten , I should've said. She's 8. Temp was going down with paracetamol but haven't given any today yet as it's not quite as high. This is the fourth day. Maybe several days like this does warrant a call tomorrow - mine was only 2 or 3 days I think.

It can’t hurt to call if you are worried - you no her best. But if it’s going down when treated I’d not be too worried yet. Especially if you’ve tested and are sure it’s viral the doctor can’t usually do much. But phoning will do no harm!

Thank you, it's helpful to get a second opinion.

I agree, it's always better to speak to your GP if you're worried at all. When I had it though, I wasn't too bad at all whilst testing positive, just a bit of a cough and the odd headache, but the day I got my first negative and for a few days after, I felt absolutely awful and could barely move from the couch. Hope she feels better soon x
