Been feeling rough past few days and done a lateral test had some left over from when I was regularly testing as I work in a care home it’s come up bold and positive straight away

does anybody know the rules it’s a bit confusing online cause in one breath it says you don’t need to isolate then in the next you do for 5 days?

I work in a care home managers off on the weekend and everyone at work is unsure any guidance?

There are no rules, even hospital staff have been asked to go in if you feel well.

It now totally depends on what your place of work says. But also don't go in if you feel to ill.

It depends on what it says in your contract or employee handbook under covid-19 section. I can tell you now that I know people are going to come at you for testing 🤣🤣but I understand why you have tested as you work with vulnerable people, I tested positive a week before Christmas and I was told to carry on as normal (I'm a TA) so i did 🫣

But there's so much going around at the moment 😭

There are no government rules anymore but it's up to your workplace to decide (assuming people feel well enough to work)

Henryhover · 06/01/2024 17:24

You don't have to test! It's not like what it was years ago.
Completely understand though as I've only been in my job for 3 months and I use to work in a carehome before leaving. But there are policy's in place for the residents health n safety.

I only tested because i had a cold and lost my hearing in my right ear

After multiple vaccines & previous wild infection, it mostly presents as no worse than a cold. So treat it like you would a cold, whatever precautions you expect to take for that.

Thanks for testing OP and glad your boss is a good 'un. Hope you feel better soon.
