Covid…and backache?

I tested positive for Covid earlier today, having had a runny nose and general shite feeling over Christmas. This morning, my lower left back started to ache and is currently really painful, radiating down my left leg.

I’ve had back spasms before, which were agony, but I can’t help thinking this is Covid-related. Has anyone else had a bad back as a result of Covid?

Yes, I had it the week before Christmas and the back pain was awful! Paracetamol helped slightly. Hope you're better soon.

@ladygindiva thanks so much, absolutely ridiculous symptom!!! Glad you’re feeling better.

My grandsons had very painful backs and legs the last time they had Covid. Hope you’re feeling better soon!

I can sympathise OP, as I also have Covid right now 😔. Hot/cold and headache today. I haven’t had backache/shooting pains this time, but it was one of my first symptoms when I previously had it. It was really painful!

Make sure you take care of yourself, and get plenty of fluid and rest.

Oh! I suddenly got very painful lower back radiating into left buttock a few weeks ago. It was really painful but hadn't done anything to hurt myself. Now reading this, I know I came down with viral symptoms a few days later. Making me think perhaps this is what I had.

Simd1 · 26/12/2023 22:39

Backache was my first symptom of COVID and my only symptom for about a day so at first I thought I'd just hurt my back.

Alasitsme · 26/12/2023 22:46

Kidney pain maybe?

jputthekettleon · 26/12/2023 22:49

It was my last symptom to go

flowerchild2000 · 26/12/2023 22:50

Yes! The last bout my back hurt so bad and for so long I almost lost my mind. I thought it was a knot under my shoulder blade, like a tension knot. But it got worse and worse and then the other symptoms started. For me it was upper back. I googled it and a lot of other people reported the same. It's awful! I hope it doesn't last as long for you.

Thanks everyone, it seems better this morning, perhaps a bit twinge-y.

What a crazy covid symptom ! 😳

ProfessorPeppy · 27/12/2023 09:11

Honestly, I thought I’d gone into spasm but couldn’t think what I’d done, then considered that it might be covid

I've currently got covid and it's like the original covid, feel generally terrible, lost sense of taste and smell and yes my backs also sore!
