How long is covid lasting nowadays?

I've got pissing covid and feel like shit. Have had it twice before and hardly noticed each time. Obv this time it's different. How long are people finding the 2023 version is lasting? Is Christmas going to be hell?

I felt really bad for two days. Couldn't get out of bed or eat much. Days 3 and 4 still stayed in bed but was felt a bit better and fever was gone. I am on day 7 now and feeling more normal, up and about. Mostly feel nausea and no appetite. Hope you feel better soon - this latest variant is pretty awful.

I tested positive on Monday and had a couple of days of feeling hot and cold with a blocked but snotty nose. The next few days i just felt a bit tired and as if i had a head cold. I was negative by Friday.

Unfortunately ds is feeling unwell so it could be starting in him now.

Thanks for sharing - sounds like you had/have it worse than me. Day 1 and I have a fever but I can eat and have been up and doing small things in between lying on the sofa feeling shit. You've given me hope.
I hope you get completely better very soon.

Full week of a fever, it was hellish, could barely get out of bed without help. It took a month before I felt even vaguely back to normal.

I had covid last month, sore throat and sore achy body for one day then just like a cold for maybe 2-3 days. I got my booster a month before I caught it, I assume that’s why it wasn’t as awful as when I caught it earlier in the year- that lasted at least a week, more fluey/hungover than cold-ish symptoms.

I had it mid September and felt shit for around 3 weeks. Just felt like a really bad cold that wouldn't sodding budge (plus bad guts)

I had a dodgy tummy before I had the cold symptoms. Apparently gastric issues can be found with the recent variety of covid so maybe i had it from earlier than i thought. I hadn't had a vaccine for 2 years so my immunity to it would have been low.

I had gastric issues, I lost half a stone in a week.

4 adults.
2 younger ones had a positive test for five days but felt better after 3.
One of us was positive for 12 days and felt awful for a week.
I'm 8 days in, still positive, still feel terrible.

It's really variable.

Last time I had it I was sick for a month. I'm sure it was because I hadn't gotten a booster for a long time. It was like the first time I got Covid. When I was properly vaccinated it only lasted 2 weeks.

Tested positive on Friday and been in bed since. Aches and pains in joints and muscles I didn’t know existed, scratchy throat and bunged up nose. I will be calling in sick for work tomorrow. I hope you’re all feeling better for Christmas x

I've had it twice mildly, most recently was a couple of months ago. Just like a heavy cold really. Didn't need to stay in bed/sleep but couldn't do much beyond the basics of feeding us (just DH and I at home, and we both had it at the same time). Just spent most of the time curled up on the sofa with hot water bottles and the dogs. I was over the worst in about 3 days, although it took a week to fully go. DH was ages with a lingering cough though- it always goes to his chest, whereas with me it's sore throat and sinuses that are the worst.

Got it 8 weeks ago and I'm still too Ill to work.

Don't take it lightly. Take the proper time to recover. It can be brutal.

Day 11… took another lft this morning out of curiosity and still very positive. Been feeling like utter arse and going to have to get a fit note for work this week. Very fed up and can’t wait for it all to be over.

I feel very sorry for myself. Not least because kids had been going to go to their dads for Xmas, and tbh I'd been looking forward to a bit of a break after a really tough term and 2 cancelled contact weekends, but he's just announced that he can't have them because he can't risk getting covid himself (he's not vulnerable). So not only will I be unwell, I won't get a much needed in any case rest, and have to try to make things ok for very disappointed (again) kids. Sigh

I had it recently and felt bad for a couple of weeks. Days 3 and 4 were by far the worst. I started to get better after a few days then felt worse again with a very sore chest and it hurt to breathe on about day 10. Then got better again. I always find with Covid it's up and one. You feel better, then get worse etc for a while.

I felt OK the 1st two days, then had 2 really rough days followed by a week of just rotten blocked sinuses/sore throat. Not too bad considering I hadn't had the jabs past the 1st two due to reaction, and being utterly floored by it for about 4 weeks in 2021.

My dad (aged 85) has just had it. He felt pretty bad for 3-4 days but is now much better on day 7.

I have had it for 10 days- awful blocked sinuses, deaf, aching body and temperature.
Slowly getting better but keep feeling like i should be ok! Got a busy day tomorrow and then a week off work so will just have to rest.
feel a bit low too. Bloody covid! Take care all x

Fourth time here. 1st time was utterly dreadful, went to hospital and took 18 months of long Covid to recover.

2nd time - 10 days acute, 3+ weeks fatigue
3rd time - 6 days acute, a few days fatigue
4th time - 5 days acute and feeling much better today (day 5) but assume I’ll have fatigue for a few days yet. Hopefully that’s it.

Have had 2 vaccines ages ago and no boosters since. All times it’s been rough but never anything like round one.

I'm currently on day 9, thankfully not much of a temperature today but I'm still having shortness of breath, it's okay while I'm sat or laid down but getting up and attempting to be productive seems to aggravate it, the shortness of breath is causing me to cough which causes more shortness of breath. I've had covid 4 times, the first time was awful, I spent 3 days in bed then a few weeks of feeling exhausted but I also have CFS so that didn't help. The 2nd and 3rd time i barely even knew I had it and then this time, I've just felt utterly shite for 9 days so far, with a whole range of symptoms. I didn't test positive until day 7 though.
