Covid and ravenous

Is this a thing? I'm on day 5 now, and feel rotten, but I'm hungry all the time even though I can't smell or taste a thing.

I have Covid (so,so I'll). Came across this thread because I googled if it was normal to be ravenous when suffering from Covid. I'm so hungry, I normally lose my appetite when I'll.

@WhycantIkeepthisbloodyplantalive sorry you are feeling so rough. It's weird isn't it? Usually I don't want to eat when I'm not well, but this time, I'm just constantly hungry. I'm glad it's not just me.
On day 6 now, and starting to feel slightly better, but the test is still showing raging red. I spoke to work and they said stay well away please, and see how I am by Monday.

I'm on day 3 and keep getting waves of utter illness that lasts a couple of hours. In between the waves I just feel like I've got flu but can move around with pain killers. I've also let work know today was hoping I'm well enough to work Saturday, otherwise I'll hopefully be back next Monday too. Absolutely dreading my toddler and husband catching it at the moment. I've tried to somewhat keep a distance from my son but he just doesn't understand and became distraught that I wasn't cuddling him. I was trying to lessen the viral load (not prevent him catching it), but have now given up and have been cuddling him and just about mustered the energy to make Christmas cards with him (with both co-codamol and nurafen on the go). So waiting for the hell of looking after poorly people whilst poorly myself.

Glad to hear you're feeling better! It completely flings you out of normality doesn't it.

@WhycantIkeepthisbloodyplantalive how are you feeling today? I'm a bit better, and DH is testing positive now, although he doesn't feel ill at all.

I was ravenous the first time I had covid, despite feeling a bit sick. Only problem was neither of us felt well enough to do much in the kitchen.

Yes! The covid munchies! It’s a thing.

Hope you feel better soon.

Redruby2020 · 14/12/2023 21:02

That's strange as I couldn't eat, one of only a few times I lost weight 🤦‍♀️
My friend who had already had it back when it was a big thing, said drink orange juice so I did, which was nice.
I was quite unwell with it though, couldn't get up, got up felt like i would drop. So despite being advised to go out for a walk, I felt that was a bit risky under the circumstances.
My appetite/things i wanted or didn't want changed after that.

Second time around was easier, couple of bad days then good.

I didn’t, I couldn’t eat for a while, but other family members certainly felt very hungry although also very poorly during one of their Covid bouts. Weird!
