Basically posting purely for help as I don't know where else to turn (feeling v sorry for myself) for the past 48 hours Iv been freezing cold every single muscle in my body aches and my skin hurts and I'm also exhausted! Went through 3 pairs of pjs last night as I keep waking up in a pool of sweat but no other symptoms apart from the weirdest thing which is this burning feeling in my right eye it's almost unbearable and it's spreading down the right side of my nose. Iv done two covid tests both negative has anyone experienced a bug like this recently?

Sounds like the last bout of COVID I had.
Rest as much as you can.

NYE2023 · 15/10/2023 07:45

Sounds like Covid to me ( flu season hadn’t got going yet ). The new Pirola strain even lists eye issues as a symptom . I hope that you feel better soon - sounds really miserable

AutumnWellyBootsandScarf · 15/10/2023 07:53

That sounds awful.

check your tests are in date, however, they weren't very good at picking the previous variant up.

I'm NOT a medic
id just assume it's covid/other that I don't want to pass onto anyone else & stay away from everyone. Take regular doses of ibruprofen & paracetamol I find alternating 2 hourly (rather than both every 4 hours) works better for me.

call GP tomorrow if it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

hope you feel better soon !

I tested positive a few days ago and have had a burning feeling in and around my eyes and nose since yesterday. I've also been hot and cold, had body aches, a headache, nosebleeds, felt sick etc over the last week.

My partner has had it as well and he didn't actually test positive til he'd felt ill for a week. He did test on day 2 and 4 but both negative.

mechar · 15/10/2023 15:14

Thanks everyone, I feel like it probably is covid I'm still testing negative today which is day 3 but will test again tomorrow. The burning in my eye and right side of my nose is definitely the worst part!

I’ve had similar. Muscular pains in arms, hands, legs, back, but no respiratory symptoms. Pain around eyes, in sinuses and forehead. It got worse for two weeks to the point where I couldn’t walk, then started to improve. I still have some pain two months later, I still can’t walk more than a mile. GP ruled out pretty much everything except a virus, said it’s probably Covid (although too late to test). I know of three other people who’ve had similar, several on here have reported the same.

Daz2424 · 21/10/2023 23:36

The symptoms you have described were identical to my recent covid experience. No respiratory symptoms either.
I did however have a severe stomach issues couldn't keep any food down and I'm still having issues eating.
Worse illness ever.

Around 1st September I had swollen glands, then a few days later sudden onset of sore throat and sore right eye with weird blistery red rash on upper waterline. Eye and throat came on at exactly the same time, as if someone had chucked dust in my face. Developed a bad cough, fever, other typical covid symptoms but tested negative three times, until day four, then I stopped testing.

Around 1st October I came down with what seemed like a cold (tired, sniffly, only a mild cough this time, slight fever), tested faintly positive and was negative within a week. I still don't know if that positive was a new case of covid or a late bloomer from the earlier bug.

Both times I was crazy thirsty but didn't have any change in smell/taste with either bug.

This was my fourth coughing bug since Christmas (tested negative in December, positive in February, negative in September, positive in October) and third bout of covid and I guess I need to ring the GP to discuss the fact that the cough now doesn't fully go away between bouts of illness. Haven't been ill so frequently since early childhood!

Crikeyalmighty · 30/10/2023 19:36

I started last September with all this, had a lot of neuro issues and a year later the neuro things have drastically reduced but the main thing I can't get rid of is burning eyes (like hot eyeballs) and a weirdly sore slightly numb forehead -with the eyes it's a feeling like you have got shampoo in them

Myotopia · 30/10/2023 21:21

These are exactly my symptoms. My eyes are so so painful. Tested negative yesterday and this morning, then very strong positive this evening. It’s miserable isn’t it? Decongestants helped a bit with that kicked in the face feeling.

I'm currently still very unwell saw an out of hours doctor over the weekend who confirmed chest infection but said if it doesn't improve with antibiotics in 48 hours go and see doctor so I'm currently sat in the waiting room to see my doctor as I'm definitely not any better. It's been a horrendous few weeks and I am truly fed up!
