Is this how Covid is presenting now?

Trying to figure out what the heck has bowled me over! Testing negative for Covid on old tests (still in date) but I’ve heard that maybe old tests don’t detect new Covid?

Upset tummy, severe aches all over, hands so stiff I couldn’t use my phone, legs so painful I struggled to walk from the car park to Asda (thankfully improving now). Sinus pressure, brain fog, tired, fuzzy, can’t focus (still struggling with this). No fever, no respiratory symptoms other than a couple of sneezes! I got worse for 3 weeks before starting to recover.

GP ruled out other causes with blood tests. Basically told me to bugger off because it’s a “functional illness” ie nothing wrong. Is this how Covid is presenting now?

Empathy is not your strong suit is it, Jesus.

Why? I feel for people who are really ill. Its terrible. I have been ill before. I understand how awful being ill is and I hope everyone feels better soon. But some people being really ill still doesn't mean everyone is about to die of a horrible new strain of covid. Last year there were people saying the exact same thing as you are saying now. How the strain they had was the worst and they feared for the elderly. I imagine because you weren't ill last year you didn't take much notice. But this year you are the one who is ill. So now you're saying it. It's human nature that when it happens to you you take notice of something. But it still doesn't mean this strain is the worst one yet and everyone is at risk.
If I had a mild bout of covid I wouldn't go around telling everyone this strain was really mild and they shouldn't worry. Because I understand not everyone who gets it will get it mildly.

Felt off on Saturday,
Sunday started with cough, squits and general cold like symptoms tested but negative not even a faint line nothing!
Monday all the above plus temperature shivers skin prickles, cough worse, headache, tummy cramps and exhaustion, tested last night and within seconds brightest line I have ever seen popped up (this is 3rd time I’ve had covid )
Today all the above but even worse than yesterday plus add in sneezing and nose running like tap or blocking up at random! Soo bloody exhausted too
it’s grim!!

CornishTeaTime · 04/09/2024 23:21

colouringindoors · 10/09/2024 20:16

Not felt well since last Thur (5 days ago) headache, sore throat, loss of voice, fatigue. Thought it was a cold so kept going through work, concert, funeral yest... Really rough today. Slept til 12. Add sneezing and runny nose to list. I'm self employed and worried I'm not going to be able to work all week.

How long have people been ill for?

shewolfmum · 13/09/2024 10:45

i am testing negative but had had a cold and cough for 2 weeks now, it is intense like I can't go to work and am self employed, it is rubbish. anyway, not sure if covid or not but it is grim and my ear is blocked and I have so much snot!

frecklejuice · 13/09/2024 21:18

I just tested positive, felt rubbish Wednesday but went to the gym and then felt absolutely awful. Woke up this morning with a pounding head and full blown cold so did a test and it was a dark positive before the liquid reached the control line.

Hoping it doesn't get worse than this.
