First time with Covid

Hello everyone, I’ve tested positive for the first time and I’m absolutely floored. I’m fairly robust when it comes to colds and coughs but this has knocked me out.

My youngest was teary and tired last Friday morning, asking for a day off school, but I thought it was because she was exhausted from transitioning into secondary school and sent her in. That evening, she had a headache which continued into Saturday along with a runny nose. She told me that a girl she’d sat next to at school had Covid so I purchased a test and she was positive straight away.

I also developed a headache on Saturday morning and then over the following few days I’ve had the chills, sweats, was awake in the early hours with a sore throat and burning chest, awful backache and sore legs but I’ve only tested positive today - up until now the LFTs have been negative. My mum is having radiotherapy so I’ve been testing every day. I love my food usually but today it hurts to swallow and I can’t taste anything.

I was meant to start Introduction Week at University this week having left a full time job last week, when I emailed the Head of the course on Monday to explain that my youngest was ill and I had symptoms, I had a reply to ask me to make arrangements for childcare so I could come in. I don’t have anyone to help - I’m a single parent. I emailed this morning to say I’ve tested positive and didn’t get a reply back. Now I’m worried that I won’t be well enough for lectures to start on Monday. I hate letting people down and making a poor impression.

Sorry for rambling, I’m feeling sorry for myself. I haven’t been out of the house for days, I have no energy, I can’t nap in the day as my daughter is home & everywhere is aching. Is today Day 1 or would that be Saturday, when symptoms began? Thank you

Day 1 will be when symptoms began. Having said that though, I would avoid your mum until you are actually negative.
I’m sorry you feel so rough, it is horrible. I am just recovering from my 2nd time and it really wiped me out for a week! Think of it as flu and get plenty of rest. Some people may be asymptomatic but you clearly aren’t and you need to rest to recover.

Rest, fluids, paracetamol for fever. Hopefully your dc will be over it fairly quickly, children tend to have it milder, generally speaking.

Could someone advise me please. I tested positive for covid on Monday morning and I've broke out with this rash. Does anyone know what it is. Thank you
