Hello,

I tested positive on Tuesday morning after feeling a bit off and a sort throat. Used a LFT and had a fair line but still a positive. As the day progressed I was feeling awful and had an early night.

I tested again Wednesday morning (don't know why really) and got a very strong line this time. Felt rubbish the whole day and lethargic.

Anyway today I feel 100 times better other than a cough every now and again. That is the only symptom I still have.

My issue is ... I have booked one of those coach trips on Saturday with a small group of friends and I am unsure whether to go or not . It's 3 hours there and 3 hours back . I understand there are no restrictions but I just feel a bit guilty that I could be making others unwell .

Would I still be contagious etc ? Would others stay at home or are we just getting on with it now ? I feel so conflicted about it all . Thoughts would be appreciated.

My thoughts would be that it would be really, really inconsiderate to go, although I know I’m in a minority.

Ditto.

Applesandpears23 · 14/09/2023 19:31

I would cancel it. You’re still contagious.

Bimblesalong · 14/09/2023 19:38

Don’t do it please. How would your friends feel if they also came down with it, as well as anyone else on the trip? - 2x3 hours in a small enclosed place is such a risk.

The fact that you actually bothered to do a test seems to say that you worried about the spread of covid one way or another. If that is the case, then please stay at home. Covid or not, why make other people sick??

shootingstar1 · 14/09/2023 20:05

I totally agree with what you have all said . I probably wouldn't enjoy it knowing I could be making others unwell.

Some of my friends have had a completely different attitude though. But it doesn't sit right with me 😖

I would be quite miffed if I was your friend and picked it up from you on Saturday. Sorry.

shootingstar1 · 14/09/2023 20:13

I've offered my place to someone else now. There is always next time

Why didn't you just wait and see if you were testing negative? Some people are only testing positive for 3-4 days

Bimblesalong · 14/09/2023 22:29

There will be other trips and your friends will appreciate your actions. Rest up and get fully well.

Absolutely do not go

Floribundum · 16/09/2023 14:29

Good decision not to go.

I know two people whose life’s are ruined at the moment by long covid. It’s not just a week of a sore throat and a bit of a headache for some, for others their whole careers are on the line and they can’t even parent their children properly, needing a wheelchair to go out. So my answer would be to skip the coach trip
