How do you find out if you are eligible for the covid booster

At the end of 2020, I spent 10 days in hospital with covid, which had a pretty good attempt at trying to kill me off. Prior to getting covid, there was no reason for anyone to consider me as being vulnerable. I had had two lots of breast cancer but, as far as I was aware, there was no damage to my lungs from radiation.

Although I have made a full recovery and am living my life as normal, I really don't want to have a similar experience if I catch Covid again, which I am sure I shall at some stage.

I have tried to find out if I am eligible for the next booster, even though I am under 65, by calling my GP. I couldn't get by the receptionist who said they no longer deal with vaccinations and I should dial 119, which is, of course, completely useless. All I want to know is whether they consider me to be vulnerable (and not, why not).

I also want to find out about access to paxlovid, and whether it is possible to get this through a private doctor.

Can anyone help with these issues please?

Online booking starts on Monday. If you're eligible, you'll be able to book. If you're not, you won't be.

Unfortunately having had covid severely doesn't place you in the vulnerable category - you have to have certain conditions or meet other criteria (be a carer for example) to be eligible.

I’ve been able to book one for me. My whole family and I meet the criteria in various ways. I can’t afford to be poorly as have a lot of people to take care of.

I've been able to book, too. I'm immunosuppressed so DH and DD are also eligible - we're all booked in for this week. Bit annoying that all the pharmacies available are two bus rides away though!
