First time covid - reassurance please

I finally succumbed to Covid last weekend. The illness started out tolerable but I was in bed by Tuesday and haven't moved such since. Although I'm feeling better in myself by now, I've got this horrible tunnel vision "virus head" thing going on. I'm OK lying down but get fainty and weird when I have to get up and do things. It is really affecting my mental health as I keep thinking I'm on the mend but just can't shake it off. Starting to lose hope that I'll ever recover. Is this normal? Positive stories please. I've also lost my smell and taste almost 100%, but the virus brain fog thing is far worse.

I'm impressed you've got this far without it tbh. I've had it at least twice that I'm sure off, a few other viruses that could have been it or just colds / the flu.

Keep on top of the lemsip and fluids and you'll be fine soon.

I had delta pre vaccine and it was pretty bad. I was ok, it just went on for ages and took a while to feel 100%. My smell and taste came back and no long term affects thankfully! Was scary at the time though. Have you had a vaccine?

You will recover. My recovery was very sudden - went from being weak as a new born lamb to feeling fine over night, and then I totally over did it and ended up with a chest infection!

@Chazzles81 i had it for the first time last month and felt the same 😬 it does eventually disappear but I felt awful!

I completely lost my taste and smell then when it came back, anything with dairy in smelled like ammonia for about a week. It was vile 🙈 Also had no cough during it but developed the worst cough of my life the following week.

Hopefully you feel better soon 🤞🏼

When I had it I became very very down & cried almost constantly for no reason at all. It was very strange

Yes I had 4 vaccines. My husband is vaccinated and immunocompromised - he and our DD both had Covid last year and only had mild headaches! Think I've been unlucky

Ive just had it, starting two weeks ago tomorrow. I've had it before but this was by far the worst I have ever felt. I couldn't get out of bed for three days and it's taken me until now to get up and out. Been for a Dog walk this morning for the first time in a few weeks. I have been very dizzy and my head feels very heavy-sort of labyrinthitis symptoms-its improved these last few days but I'm still nowhere near right.
You will get better but when you are in it it really feels like you won't! I've been vaguely hearing about some new horrible strain and MIL informs me the dizziness is a characteristic of it. Rest up, all the usual fluids etc-hopefully you will soon be on the mend.

And yes to the brain fog. I'd replied to someone about my small business and I have no recollection of doing so, plus what I said was totally wrong. I just couldn't think in order-seen a massive improvement in that in the last few days too but it's taken a while. Very weird feeling!
