Covid and Pneumonia

I've recently developed pneumonia and on second course of antibiotics and it's still not shifting. My MIL recently also had covid and pneumonia and needed hospitalising.

Just wondered whether many other people have had pneumonia recently?

And if it's been linked to covid or was separate?

I had it in December and was suffering with what was diagnosed as long covid until February. I was sent for a chest X-ray and the results came back as pneumonia. I was given a week on strong antibiotics and sent for another chest X-ray as it didn’t get better. I was given different antibiotics after the second chest X-ray and haven’t had any issues since.

Not so much recently but my daughter had Covid and Pneumonia together

Studies have shown Vitamin D is beneficial in lessening the severity of, and quicker recovery from, pneumonia, maybe worth a go? Not instead of antibiotics obviously.
I have heard of a few people having covid and pneumonia, but not sure how common it is.

I hope you manage to shake it off soon.

Blimey. I hope you feel better soon.

I had pneumonia last November. Sniffle one day , needing ambulance the next .

I'm still wheezing now and using inhalers and waiting for a spirometer test.

I suspect it was covid but didn't test .

My brother is in hospital now recovering from Covid pneumonia, and has just finished a course of antibiotics and steroids. This is the first time he’s had Covid and the pneumonia developed after a few days with the Covid. He’s on the mend now, thank goodness.

I had two lots of antibiotics and 2 lots of steroids . The only thing that shifted it was doxycycline.

Thanks for all the responses.

And the reminder about Vit D - I had been taking it normally, but have realised I've been forgetting recently with all the other things I've been on - will get back to taking it, too.

I'm now on doxycycline so hopefully that will kick in properly soon.
