Covid twice in one month?

Has anyone ever had covid in quick succession?

I had covid about 3 weeks ago, recovered fully in 9 days or so.

woke up this morning feeling like I have it again.

I haven’t tested yet because I get health anxiety when I’m ill and if I’m positive again I’ll be panicking that my body can’t fight it off and I’ll get really unwell and the anxiety will exacerbate all of my symptoms like chest pain etc.

so I suppose I just want to know if it’s possible / likely and if it happened to you how you were (positive stories hopefully!)

I haven’t been ill apart from covid in a couple of years so it’s surprising to now be unwell again so quickly. Hopefully it’s just the start of a simple cold.

I've posted on the other thread, but I have exactly this right now. Complete with immense exhaustion and sneezing and a general feeling of nausea. (and my period, but that's incidental, doesn't help though). I'm so pissed off, I had been better, I was really enjoying feeling better. I don't think it is covid really though, I haven't tested nobody around me has covid or even seems ill and I have only just had it.

I had covid again at the end of last year, got over it and then got a stinking cold about a week later. So, about a two week gap. Tested both times.

That's what I have. It's hard to date the end of covid but probably about 1st March and then I've been feeling ill since about Tuesday. But it really feels like covid symptoms but less. I don't feel like I should be lying down all the time!

Don't worry OP. You're probably just a bit run down. It's end of term, it's been a long fairly grim winter, everyone is tired and in need of sunshine and a lazy Easter holiday.

Hang on until the schools break up and then promise yourself a lazy self indulgent few days with lots of sleep and plenty of fresh air. xx

Link to ONS

I don’t know if you can get it again so quickly, but it is circulating everywhere, as always. (Link to Office for National Statistics showing covid in the community at the moment).
Covid does deplete your immune system, so you could have just picked up a normal cold virus now due to your immune system having taken a battering from covid. Rest up, you’ll feel better soon x

Thanks guys. I literally feel like I have covid. Mildly scratchy throat, glands up in the neck, dizzy, tired. No cold symptoms. So weird.

I had nausea and sickness with my covid and that has come back too. It's really weird but I think I have just caught another virus and my body is reacting like it did with covid. Much sympathy though @JeepersCreeperrs it's really grim and also really annoying!

Namechange9898 · 27/04/2023 00:18

@JeepersCreeperrs can I ask if it turned out to be covid a second time and if so how you were with it? I tested positive 4 weeks ago, was really unwell for about 13 days and got better and was negative. I have just tested a very strong positive again today after wakening up feeling rubbish. I now feel like I have the flu and like you I am feeling abit worried on how my body will fight it off. It has being doing the rounds in our small office and I'm the third to test positive in the past week.

JeepersCreeperrs · 27/04/2023 19:52

@Namechange9898 i didn’t test again but I don’t think it was covid. Symptoms were worse though, the fatigue was unreal. I had chest pain, heart palpitations, my GP referred me for tests but I was just run down.

so although a different infection, still something kicking my immune system’s ass. I recovered within a couple of weeks and GP wasn’t concerned at all.

hope you’re ok ♥️
