Covid then a cold 2-3 weeks later?

Anyone else had covid and recovered ok only to get another cold after 2-3 weeks?

Whole household had covid over half term (not too badly)and now all full of cold which is hugely annoying.

Just feeling like it’s one thing after another and wondering why we’re suddenly so unhealthy after not having much at all since 2020 and generally being out and about as normal for ages now.

Exact same thing happened to my daughter before xmas. No doubt the bugs are doing their rounds now everyone is out and about

Hi,

I'm relieved to find it's not just me that feels like my immune system has flat lined since COVID!

Just about 2 weeks after COVID I started to feel like it had come back again except it wasn't because I tested negative and had a mucus cough instead, after a week or so of feeling lousy I started to feel on the mend on Friday but woke up on Saturday feeling really crap with sire tonsils this time!

I'm close to ringing the doctors to ask for something to help shift these infections once and for all so I can feel well and like me again.

Same here @Icelolly999

Covid in October.
A bad cold in November
December had influenza and was wiped out for two weeks

Jan nasty virus

Feb nothing

March just come down with a throaty thing passed on by dc.

I'm thoroughly pissed off with it to be honest

I take multi vits, vit d,vit c,magnesium and am still catching things.

I think it's a mixture of immune systems being low after isolation and covid really lowering peoples immune system to other shot floating around

It’s starting to get me down now as it’s been months since we’ve all been healthy and this is not like us at all.

Our kids are all pretty sporty and have barely ever missed any competitions, training or matches over the years but lately you can pretty much guarantee when a competition comes up one will get a cold, then the rest of us too, like a domino effect.

We had dh fluey/cold early Dec. Dd16 with flu bug all over Xmas hols. Dh then worse over new year and Jan with 2 x antibiotics. This keeps going better but seems to have an ongoing cold and cough still now. Then dd16 got covid at the start of half term followed by me, dh and dd18. We all recovered and then the week after ds9 gets a nasty cold and temp (not covid). Now we all seem to have that, the whole household. Dd18 has a nasty cough, dh has an ongoing cough, and I am plodding on through a bit of a cold. This morning dd16 wakes full of cold with stomach pains. You couldn’t make it up!

Really starting to get fed up now….

Yes since my tonsils started acting up at the weekend it seems to have affected my stomach, I'm an IBS sufferer which makes the impact worse!

I'm annoyed because I felt really on the mend on Friday and woke up Saturday with another lurgy.

It's unsettling feeling you can't quite get infection out of the system because you read things about sepsis or post COVID pneumonia and think what if?!!

I'm really considering calling my doctor's today.

Yorkshirelass123 · 13/03/2023 16:24

Covid causes immune dysregulation. Current clinical studies show that this lasts for many months, they don’t yet know what happens long term.
So yes expect to pick up more infections after COVID.
I really don’t understand why this isn’t in the news. It is very disturbing.

JeepersCreeperrs · 18/03/2023 10:07

Just posted my own thread then saw this! I am 2-3 weeks post covid recovery and I woke up this morning feeling like I’m coming down with it again! Apart from covid recently and last year, I haven’t been ill since summer 2020!

darjeelingrose · 18/03/2023 10:56

Yes! I'm so glad I read this, I thought I was going mad. Covid about three weeks ago and then on Tuesday it felt like I was coming down with it again. I'm clearly not, I'm nowhere near as ill, but I am feeling pretty rubbish. I've been thinking is it something hormonal, or something viral, but it's viral for sure, it's like "light covid" (at least compared to what I had before). So far it has been like a mini version of all the symptoms. It's annoying. I'd been really taking care to eat healthily, take vitamins and so on.

Icelolly999 · 23/03/2023 15:58

Now me, older dd and dh are still full of cold with coughs and feeling generally rough. Not bad enough to be off work but lacking energy and motivation.

I am never like this normally so whatever it is has hit us all badly an we must all be really run down or unhealthy.

Sorry to hear that OP. Unfortunately COVID affects the immune system so we are all becoming more vulnerable to all kinds of infections.

JeepersCreeperrs · 23/03/2023 18:53

This illness is worse than the bout of covid I had if I’m honest. It’ll be a week tomorrow that I came down with it, I hope it clears then. I am better today but still have an annoying cough, heart palpitations and dizziness when I do too much.

darjeelingrose · 25/03/2023 08:30

Sorry to hear that @Icelolly999 . I'm also feeling rough still, it's definitely something else, I did a test. I'm trying to eat really healthily and I'm taking royal jelly, but I really need to be able to prioritise sleep and that is not going so well!

JeepersCreeperrs · 25/03/2023 10:36

@darjeelingrose me too. I haven’t tested but symptoms have progressed into completely different. I am really dizzy, fatigued, cough keeping me up all night (don’t have a cough with covid), chest pain, mild laryngitis.

darjeelingrose · 25/03/2023 13:09

I did a test because I couldn't believe it wasn't covid, but it isn't, and I know it wouldn't have made sense anyway. @JeepersCreeperrs I hope you feel better soon, I'm starting to think my immune system is really shot.

JeepersCreeperrs · 26/03/2023 18:09

@darjeelingrose how are you now? I’m still shit. Dizziness, fatigue, palpitations, dry cough and chest pain. Infact the chest pain was so severe I nearly ended up at A&E this afternoon and if it ramps up again I’m going because it’s worrying me a lot.
