How many times have you had it?

Because I've just tested positive for the FIFTH time, triple vaccinated! Is there something wrong with my immunity?? I tend to test positive for ages when I get it as well, so there's a chance time 1-2 were actually just one, but that still leaves me with four infections. My sister was really bewildered and said she'd never heard of someone having it so many times and testing positive on lat flow for weeks after. Is there something possibly wrong with me?

Vaccines dont stop you catching it 🤦🏼‍♀️

Is there a reason you are still testing? And for so long afterwards as well

OrangeKnot · 12/02/2023 12:08

I’ve had it once, but my husband has tested positive 5 times and we’re iffy about a couple of other ‘colds’ Normal, healthy guy, mid-40s

quietnightmare · 12/02/2023 12:09

3 jabs here. Officially 3 times think I had it before testing was available so possibly 4.
It's just something we are going to have to live with

I work in a school with very vulnerable children.

Second time and neither had symptoms.
I’m absolutely perfectly well and only tested because DH has it - otherwise I’d be none the wiser. Have to say I could easily if had it multiple times. Record I’ve heard about is 9 times and I’m sure there’s more people who can top that.

Spotsstripes · 12/02/2023 12:12

I'm part of the ons study so test regularly and also have my antibodies checked monthly. I'm quadruple vaccinated. Had covid once (two weeks after fourth vaccination). My antibodies are at the highest level they record consistently. Obviously this won't stop me getting covid. Hopefully will reduce risk of passing on /reduce symptoms.

dudsville · 12/02/2023 12:14

Just the 1 time, but i was surprised that i tested positive, and although i have to test once or twice a month it made me think i may have missed previous occurrences.

EwwSprouts · 12/02/2023 12:14

Never, Nor DH. DS had it once and we didn't get it off him. Fairly confident as for a number of months DH's work was demanding daily tests of all employees.

I have a friend whose family have had it three times despite being fully jabbed.

There are papers suggesting that repeated cases may prove to be flare ups as opposed to new infection.

ComeTheSpringLobelia · 12/02/2023 12:14

Officially once for me. But I am convinced I had it right at the beginning (when it was still said that it had not hit the UK shores yet) as I had all the symptoms and was desperately unwell.

I continue to test about every week or so as i have a vulnerable child. I have been vaxxed 4 times and my child 3.

DH has also had it only once. He has been vaxxed 4 times.

Said vulnerable child has had it once.

But one of the children in DS's class has had it 6 times that I know of.

LubaLuca · 12/02/2023 12:17

Twice I think. The last time I had it was a week after my 4th jab.

BooksAndHooks · 12/02/2023 12:20

I still haven’t had it, neither has DS2. Even when DH had it and I was sharing a bed etc didn’t get it.

Mooloopoo · 12/02/2023 12:24

Never, the rest of my household have had it twice but I’ve escaped so far

Toddlerteaplease · 12/02/2023 12:27

Once, in October 2020, so pre vaccine. Been a close contact several times and not caught it.

Toddlerteaplease · 12/02/2023 12:28

My sister continued to test positive for 6 moths afterwards.

Derrymum123 · 12/02/2023 12:34

4 times that I am sure of.i.e positive test. To be honest I don't test anymore. 3 jabs here, no more for me ever. I am done with it and all the propaganda.

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 12/02/2023 12:37

@Youcancallmeirrelevant

Is there a reason you don't test if you have symptoms?

I work in a small environment very close to people.

I had covid in October then a bad chest and cold in November

In December I ended up floored with flu and wiped out January.
I've just had a close client test positive after spending hours with me.

I have an auto immune disease so I get quite poorly

I have now advised people not to come if they have any cold flu covid symptoms because I lose a lot of money if I'm I'll as I'm self employed.

My dmum is having surgery next week and I am helping her. If I test positive and then pass it on to her she can't have her three year waited for surgery !!

Why wouldn't people test???

What happened to being selfless and thinking of others as well as yourself

Scoobydoobydoobydoo0987 · 12/02/2023 12:38

Zero times

Yes, I tested positive for absolutely ages after the first time and then again after the third time. First and second times of having it were just a bit of nothing really. I wouldn't have even guessed I had it if it hadn't come up in tests (back when you had to test before going to events). I suppose it felt a bit like a virus was developing, but never really came to much. Third time was like a bad cold and I ended up with shingles in the week after, and that was horrendously painful! Fourth time was horrible, felt like my whole airway was swollen. This time feels like a bad cold with a sore throat. I have a tickly cough, swollen glands, muffled hearing and a bit of a headache. I wonder if the first and second time were actually one time with just a long positive being picked up- they were about 5 months apart.

None! And unvaccinated.

heatdeath · 12/02/2023 12:40

4 times, 4 vaccines 🤷‍♀️

This is very like me, I'm late 30s, healthy, I just keep picking it up!

Definitely once (April '22, triple vaccinated).

Maybe twice (April' 20 before widespread testing).

Todaynotalways · 12/02/2023 12:44

The '22 batch was grim, I felt genuinely awful for a week or more - I'd expected it to be more like a standard cough/cold.

In' 20 I had very few symptoms (I felt. Mildly under the weather) but I got a terrible case of 'covid toe' and the doctor suggested it was probably covid.

hiredandsqueak · 12/02/2023 12:46

Not had it at all. Fully vaccinated only been unwell once since before the start of Covid multiple tests all negative, unless I have had it and been symptom free of course. Only adult ds has had covid caught in Tenerife or on the plane anyway but he doesn't live here, none of the rest of our immediate family have had it.

PauliesWalnuts · 12/02/2023 12:47

I’ve still not had it to my knowledge. I’m pretty robust health-wise; I tend to get colds only maybe one every two or three years, but I don’t think I’m super-immune. I think it’s more likely to be a combination of not having kids, living on my own, not doing public transport (I cycle or drive), and most of my social activities are outside - walking, climbing, allotment etc.
