Insomnia in Children?!

Me and my wee boy have COVID just now and he just will not sleep! This is night 6 now of terrible sleep. He's 18 months.

He is awake every 30 minutes, crying or coughing, sometimes just needs his dummy back in, sometimes a cuddle and sometimes he's screaming and we end up downstairs to calm down. We have been up since 11pm tonight and he cries every time I suggest going back to bed. We have set up camp on the sofa with a duvet but he won't settle under it with me to snooze.

Is this a thing?! We are both improving now so thought sleep would get better.

When we had covid my son had it first, though we didn't know it at the time. He was 2. He was incredibly restless for about 3 nights, could not keep still. Constantly wriggling around ihs bed and babbling(this was before he could talk). He wasn't particularly upset until we tried to leave the room. Eventually worked out nurofen helped better than calpol.
But fortunately it only lasted a few nights, hopefully you're reaching the end.

I've just tested positive for the third time, and all 3 times I've had insomnia! It's so strange, like I just can't sleep at all. Sounds like your LO is the same. Hopefully it'll pass soon.
