Never had one like this before. This is my dad, who has reported increased muscular/joint pain over the last three days - a symptom of Kraken if I’m correct??

Id say invalid

ChocChipOwl · 06/01/2023 22:01

Just a glitchy test isn't it?!

Jules912 · 06/01/2023 22:01

That looks like the dye bleeding from using too much liquid. I'd say negative as there's not a line all the way across but probably worth doing another one to be sure.

BergamotandLime · 06/01/2023 22:01

Invalid test I'm afraid! Possibly too much liquid I think.

goldpendant · 06/01/2023 22:02

Must have done hundreds and never had one look like this, but yes, glitchy one I suppose?

Colour run
Need a fresh test making sure the correct number of drops were used

BungleandGeorge · 06/01/2023 22:05

I’d say Negative, the newer tests often bleed. There’s no line or colour at the test position. You could do another tomorrow to make sure. Put less liquid on

BookwormButNoTime · 06/01/2023 22:06

Actually, I had this on lateral flow tests when I had covid first time. It looked exactly like this on every test I did. A PCR came back positive but lateral flows continued to look like this.

BungleandGeorge · 06/01/2023 22:07

You also need to wait all the time it says (30 mins?) you can’t read it early (unless a definite positive appears!). You might find the bleed reduces and if it’s a feint positive it can take some time to change

FannyFifer · 06/01/2023 22:09

I think try another test. Looks like maybe to much liquid used.

Akite · 06/01/2023 22:10

My DH had one like this that resolved over the next day to be clearly negative. He went on to test positive the next day though. Definitely worth a repeat

NameOchangeO1 · 06/01/2023 22:14

Negative, but the test has been flooded which may have affected the result.
Does it matter if it is covid? The treatment for his symptoms will be the same either way.

fajitaaaa · 07/01/2023 07:40

Invalid- do another one. Make sure you follow instructions to the letter.

ifonly4 · 07/01/2023 16:03

I'd have put it down to too much liquid, but giving others are saying they went on to test positve with a similar reading, I'd suggest he tests again tomorrow.

Love the kraken typo

Love the kraken typo

Think Kraken is a covid variant rather than a typo

Even better then lol

Youthinkyoureuniqueyourejustastatistic · 08/01/2023 20:43

I’m pretty sure we had covid just before Christmas for the first time but I never got a positive test. Textbook symptoms brief temperature, cough and then lost smell for 24hrs day 3. Hubby got the faintest lines days 1-4, negative 5-7, positive 8-12 and then positive day 21. (I know that’s a lot of tests but meh I got a massive box and the lines were there but barely visible).
It was so confusing lol.
Lots of people anecdotally are getting their positives 6/7days into their symptoms (to do with previous infection/vax meaning symptoms are immune system rather than virus at the start unlike 2020).

I think the test is just bleeding from the control and I can’t see anything near the T. I would say this is negative. But test again in a day or two if possible.
