So I and the other half tested positive almost three weeks ago. First week was very rough for us both. But by the day after boxing day I was starting to feel more human again and have barely coughed.

Fast forward to yesterday I can't stop coughing again mainly dry coughing but every now and then I'm coughing up clear but horrible tasting mucus and my chest is constantly ticking and the right side of my chest and shoulder are aching. Starting to feel a little bit rough again after feeling better. Has this happened to anyone could it be a chest infection. Should I see a Dr.

I’m on day 15 or 16 and I find it comes and goes. I’ve also got an annoying dry cough with the same clear, white mucus. My chest hurts but I think it’s more due to clearing my throat/chest all the time. I think it’s part and parcel for some of us but if in doubt, no harm ringing your GP. I don’t have a temp or anything so won’t call them just yet.

I was just searching for anyone who has similar. I also tested positive about 3 weeks ago. Had a tight chest and felt short of breath at the time but was mostly OK and carried on as normal (at home).

Had 5 days feeling completely better and then last night got a sore chest feeling and need to cough. Like my windpipe has been sandpapered quite low down. I'm wondering if I've caught something else already or if this is still the effects of Covid. Also feeling off today and tired.

It's rubbish isn't it.

Yes my windpipe and chest hurts! I don’t think I have an infection though as I feel fine and no nasty lurgy coming up, I think it’s just covid persisting slightly.

I tested positive Xmas day. The main symptoms only lasted until 28th or so and I was mostly feeling fine apart from a stuffy nose. Now I'm wheezing each time I lay down and my chest is horribly tight :( hoping it won't last much longer. I suffer with asthma but I've never had to take my reliever as much as I have been.

Thats exactly how I am was positive on 20th Dec. Now coughing, deep cough sometimes feel i cant breath and then its sometimes wet or chokingky dry. Im feeling crap again & have a spot on my diaphram & now worried I may have shingles.

How is everyone feeling now? I have the same symptoms, also three weeks since my covid symptoms began. Barely coughed with covid, my cough came a few days later and is now just like you all have described. Sending healthy vibes to all.

Still coughing, its odd don't cough for hours then cough really badly. Its dry or deep. Keep feeling ill about 5 pm amd have a paracetamol & sometimes nauseous.

Firstinlastout · 09/01/2023 00:41

This is exactly how I'm feeling, hence why I'm still bloody awake!Had flu like symptoms about 2 weeks before Xmas, but wasn't covid.,really ill and couldn't even get out of bed.Improved after about a week but ever since my chest has felt heavy and tight and sore,as though there's loads of stuff on it I need to bring up but can't.
Anyway started coughing on Thursday and it's just constant, again nothing coming up but crackling and wheezing, really uncomfortable.Ive had to borrow my daughters inhaler as struggling to breathe while laying down.
I'm on the sofa tonight just so I don't keep everyone awake!
I'm going to try for an appointment in the morning as I'm absolutely fed up and don't think it's going to go on its own.Starting to feel 'coldy' again aswell so have just had some paracetamol.

It's bloody awful this cough. I started with a cold just before Christmas. Started feeling a bit better just after new year then a few days ago felt horrendous again. I'm now coughing up horrendous green stuff and really struggling with breathing during extended coughing periods that make my eyes water and my nose run. Feel terrible 😞

WeeSassenach · 09/01/2023 10:00

@Teal123 Very much the same here. Think I'm very slowly improving as coughing less during the day now, but like you, come evening time my chest feels heavy and I feel exhausted. Also feel a bit grotty when I first wake up and often have a coughing fit. Almost four weeks since my covid symptoms began, getting so fed up with it! Hope you turn a corner soon.

I'm going to the Dr's this morning because of exactly this. I do suffer with asthma and allergic rhinitis but I'm so tired of not being able to sleep now. My nose is so blocked that drawing a breath is difficult now. I'ved my blue inhaler more in the last few weeks than I have this year. The constant bubbling and wheezing when I sleep on my left side is doing my nut in.

I did a peak flow and highest measurement out of 3 was 480 so that's pretty good for me i feel. Will see what the dr says, maybe some antibiotics or something

Winterwonderland4 · 09/01/2023 11:26

Could it be post nasal drip. I get this after every cold etc. Tiny bits of mucus dripping down the back of your throat causing the cough then every so often enough accumulates so you cough up mucus. I find Sudafed dries it up and sinus rinsing helps too.

iloveblue · 09/01/2023 18:31

Hi all. I'm on Day 14 and feeling awful. I have the odd morning where I think I'm feeling better but by the evening I feel rough again. I developed a painful throat over the weekend and I've partially lost my voice. I'm also asthmatic and my cough has been worse over the last few days. I had to sleep on the sofa last night so I could stay upright. I'm a teacher and have been off work since last week. I had Covid about 15 months ago and it wasn't this bad. @iwillnotstaycalm did you see a doctor today? I may phone my surgery tomorrow but I know there is not much they can do.

iwillnotstaycalm · 09/01/2023 18:36

@iloveblue - sorry to hear that :( yeah I went today and they gave me some antibiotics not for my chest though for my sinuses as he couldn't hear anything wrong with my chest and said he hoped that it would clear whatever else was lingering. I've a sore throat today though 🙄
