If you could go back in time, would you still get the Covid jab?

I don’t really care if you’re vaccinated or not, but I’m interested if people would go back and change their decision?

I held out and didn't have any, I'm not an anti vaxxer but I just wanted to wait until more data was gathered.

Tbh I'm glad I didn't after seeing the behaviour from Downing Street in peak lockdown. If it was so deadly then why the hell were they carrying on as usual given that they were privy to so much information about it and Boris had a spell in hospital? It just doesn't sit right with me and I don't think that many people will admit they wish they never had it because then they'd be admitting that they were fooled and coerced into it.

janeeyreair · 29/12/2022 19:26

@Animallover87 what kind of reaction did you have? That sounds scary.

PermanentlyinUAT · 29/12/2022 19:27

I only had thE first two and they was only to travel on holiday. We travelled relatively extensively in 2020/21 and I don’t like staycations so I had no choice unless I wanted to stay at home. So no, I wouldn’t change it but I’ve never had any of the boosters, never vaccinated the tween DC and if no vaccine had been needed to go on holiday then I absolutely wouldn’t have had it.

EmmaAgain22 · 29/12/2022 19:27

elmooie · 29/12/2022 19:24

Had 3 and wouldn’t change a thing. Was very grateful for having had those when I had covid and felt like crap for a week. Can’t imagine anyone regrets having them?!

Have a look at the Parliamentary notes on the Vaccine Injury enquiry. My neighbour attended, with a carer, as he is no longer the bouncy energetic 30 something he used to be.

I am now so distrustful, I have decided my flu jab this year was my last. But I hear they might be combined next year, not sure if that's true.

toocold54 · 29/12/2022 19:25

Yes without a doubt.

Vaccines (and of course antibiotics) are one of the greatest things to have ever been created and the world would be a much different place without them.

I think many people (covid deniers) forget how amazing the vaccine is and without it the situation would have been much worse.

You only have to look at China to see how bad a country is without reliable vaccines. Why would anyone want to be in a similar situation?

Athenen0ctua · 29/12/2022 19:28

BeardyButton · 29/12/2022 19:16

Holy Moly!? So if you knew lots of people who smoked, but had never had cancer, and some non smoker cancer patients; would you start smoking to avoid cancer?

The level of reasoning in this thread. Just makes me think that there’s loads of bots and vested interests here. I trust the intellect of the average mn’er to be higher than this.

I didn't decide against it because of the health of people I know. I decided against it because I was young, healthy, and had had covid at the beginning with no issues. Anyway, I chose to continue as I was, not to start something so I don't think that is comparable. If I knew people who were getting ill after eating at a certain restaurant I would avoid that restaurant.

Craver · 29/12/2022 19:28

Yes

toocold54 · 29/12/2022 19:28

and I am general very pro vax. It has undoubtedly save many lives, but has also cost lives and caused injuries.

That’s interesting.

Why would you not take this vaccine
but would still take other vaccines, even though they also cause side effects such as death?

Would you also take a vaccine for strep A?

GCAcademic · 29/12/2022 19:29

How very odd that half of them are academics. I'm an academic and have never met another academic who has expressed the views that the OP's academic friends have.

greennavy · 29/12/2022 19:30

I had 3 but never had covid so it was a waste of time really

🙄

HuntingoftheSnark · 29/12/2022 19:30

@hay5689 I agree with you.

leithreas · 29/12/2022 19:31

Yup. I still haven't had covid but I've no reason to regret getting the vaccines.

mm40 · 29/12/2022 19:31

No. I’ve had three but I’m having no more. Too many risks of blood clots.

Lindy2 · 29/12/2022 19:32

I experienced pre vaccination Covid and I never want to go through that again.

I am very relieved to be vaccinated and will follow any medical recommendations in terms of booster vaccinations.

As MarshaMelrose say, you only need to look at the situation currently in China to be reminded of 2020 and what happens without the protection of vaccinations.

tedgran · 29/12/2022 19:34

Due to an autoimmune skin condition I have had six jabs, my DH has had five, the only one I reacted to was number five, just slept for two days. Really glad that we had them, so far we have escaped covid. All our DCs and DGCs have been vaccinated.

toocold54 · 29/12/2022 19:34

I don't think that many people will admit they wish they never had it because then they'd be admitting that they were fooled and coerced into it.

Would you also say that about other vaccines?

Do you regret having those too?
Considering you probably don’t know anyone who’s had polio or rubella.

If not, why is the covid vaccine so different?

Do you think they should stop trying to find vaccines for diseases now?

Athenen0ctua · 29/12/2022 19:34

Newmama29 · 29/12/2022 19:18

@Athenen0ctua what health issues have some people that had the jab had? Curious to see if it’s similar to myself.

Seizures, auto immune issues, being generally run down with frequent viral and bacterial infections

byvirtue · 29/12/2022 19:34

No I felt manipulated and pressured into getting it. I had two jabs and then got covid, it wasn’t nice, but wasn’t awful.

With hindsight I should have stuck to my guns and not had it but the pressure at the time was immense the volume of news articles about healthy young people dying of Covid which were deliberately released to increase the uptake of the vaccine in the younger population was deliberate. I knew this at the time and felt incredibly manipulated into getting the vaccine.

My trust in the government and the health service has been eroded as a result.

Louisa111 · 29/12/2022 19:35

No absolutely not.. worst decision I ever made Hmm

Berlinlover · 29/12/2022 19:36

Not in a million years. I only took the jab so I could travel and I haemorrhaged for two days. I massively regret it especially when I didn’t even want it in the first place.

EmmaAgain22 · 29/12/2022 19:37

GCAcademic · 29/12/2022 19:29

How very odd that half of them are academics. I'm an academic and have never met another academic who has expressed the views that the OP's academic friends have.

My cousin is a professor in a science subject
she thought a lot of what happened was nonsense and commented how certain scientists were getting more air time and money than they'd ever expected and they were milking it

She is CEV - didn't shield despite the letters - but had the vax because she has regular medical appointments and it was just easier. She has no issue with anyone not having it.

she also has other views about lockdowns etc which I can't go into because I risk a ban.

having had so much time chatting to nurses etc because of mum, I do think MNers are more inclined to favour all the measures taken, than average Jane on the street. But I think the demographic here is more well off who would be horrified if their delivery driver wanted to shield...you know the type.

Dreamsoffreedomjoyandpeace · 29/12/2022 19:37

Not sure. I had the first two (later than most and pfizer) with no side-effects.

I of course wasn’t sure about having a vaccination that hadn’t been fully tested and I won’t be having endless boosters.

EmmaAgain22 · 29/12/2022 19:38

Sorry GC meant to add - how many academics would dare express their real view?

XenoBitch · 29/12/2022 19:38

The level of reasoning in this thread. Just makes me think that there’s loads of bots and vested interests here. I trust the intellect of the average mn’er to be higher than this

I am not a conspiracy theorist, but the fact you think bots and people with vested interests are taking over this thread does not feel me with confidence.

People are allowed to not go through with a medical procedure without being accused of being bots etc.

CoorieInByTheFire · 29/12/2022 19:38

I’m CEV, and have had all my boosters. I’ve also had to wear masks for years before Covid, and everybody else I know in my situation has too. I’d not change a thing I’ve done and I’d also re-evaluate any friend who refused to get the jag but luckily I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been fully vaccinated.
