Covid boosters

I was searching but couldn't find anything, just wondering if anyone had heard how often the boosters will be?
I've had my 3 primary vaccines and 3 boosters so up to date but there doesn't seem to be any info about how often they will be from now on

You've had 6 doses?
Blimey.
I think nobody knows as it's an ongoing thing and obviously with new variants, new vaccines will be developed to take those into account.
Maybe it will become like the flu jab and there will be an annual one for that year's variant.

LulooLemon · 28/12/2022 13:17

It will be 1 autumn booster per year for over 50s and clinically vulnerable people.

nether · 28/12/2022 13:21

They haven't said

I should be at least annually (autumn) for those more at risk.

Possibly with spring as well for the critically vulnerable

Yes, immunocompromised with a blood disorder

An ignorant comment. Those who were ECV always had 3 doses to the 2 that others had.

Ignorant in the sense that I didn't know. (Which is the literal meaning of ignorant)
No need to be arsey.

Pasadenadreaming · 28/12/2022 13:34

I wish there was a way to pay for a booster privately, like there is for the flu jab. I'm in my 40s so not eligible for the NHS one but would really like to get vaccinated. Had hoped they might open it up once the over 50s were done.

Says the one saying 'blimey' at the number of doses someone has had to have 🙄

"Blimey" = expression of surprise.

NippyWoowoo · 28/12/2022 14:45

"Blimey" = expression of surprise.

Thank you for defining words I know the definition to.

You could have just said the rest of your post, there was no need to 'express surprise' at how much protection someone has needed. Uncalled for. 'Uncalled for' means 'undesirable and unnecessary'.

ThighMistress · 28/12/2022 16:51

@NippyWoowoo Don’t be so prickly. I have had 6 jabs too and wouldn’t be in the least offended by a “blimey” and surprise at the number. Why on earth should someone be obliged to keep abreast of everyone’s vaccination schedule? Confused

PrincessOfWaiIs · 28/12/2022 21:41

Six jabs here, too. Last one I had I was told it would likely be every autumn going forward, like the flu jab, 'unless there were any nasty new variants'.

jevoudrais · 28/12/2022 21:43

In actual fact nobody knows the definitive answer. But it is reasonable to expect a booster every autumn if you are vulnerable or over a certain age.

KangarooKenny · 28/12/2022 21:44

There has been whispers of a spring booster

Pelo22 · 28/12/2022 22:48

And I've just tested positive Sad

when was your last booster, please?

Pelo22 · 29/12/2022 00:04

@Hiheyho 18th September, had it with my flu jab

Hiheyho · 29/12/2022 00:14

Hope you are fine!

saffronrabbit · 29/12/2022 06:55

I'm in my late 40's and not eligible for any more vaccines.
I've just tested positive again and having a terrible time, I'm very poorly. I don't think I'm going to bounce back in a hurry.
I wish I could've paid for a booster (like I do for the yearly flu jab) it feels like I've been banned or excluded and it was only a matter of time before I got covid.
It took me months to recover the first time I got it.
I assist an elderly relative (who has had 4 vaccinations) and I have now put them at risk

I've been volunteer steward at a vaccination centre and this is what I've been told by the pharmacist in charge. That centre has now closed until the autumn but I expect those who need more like the OP will get them at the GP or pharmacy if required.

In France everyone is being encouraged to have a fourth shot. I don’t understand why they haven’t opened it more broadly here. At least let us purchase it privately, as we can do with the flu shot. The hospitals are overflowing due to the so-called twindemic. It makes no sense.
