Still positive 14 days after first +

I first tested positive (faintly and after 10 minutes), two weeks ago today.

The next day (13 days ago), I tested very strongly positive immediately and felt very ill.

I've tested positive everyday, until I stopped testing on Tuesday.

I've just done a test, imagining it would be negative, only for it to come up with a faint positive after 15 minutes.

I'm confused as to what this means, as I'm well over the new 5 day period and the original 10 day period of isolation.

I feel better, except for being tired and not quite 'right', but haven't had a temperature for 13 days. I do have a sore throat, but that may be because I'm imagining I'm ill or worried I'm getting a new infection.

I'm triple vaccinated (didn't get around to having a fourth, due to having a chest infection).

Oh I feel for you. Hope you pick up. Will this impact on your Christmas plans?

fragminhelp · 24/12/2022 20:45

Won't affect plans as not able to go out, due to an operation that has left me temporarily immobile. Just worried that it means my immune system is wrecked or that I've somehow got Covid again in less than two weeks.

You can test positive for weeks, doesn't mean you are still contagious. Hope you feel better soon👍💐

Same here, 14 days since my first test. Just taken another as DH wanted to know why I'm still feeling poorly (to eliminate it!).

I'm feeling ill today - shaky, nauseous and just not "right". I went back to WFH on Monday and I think I should have stayed off a few more days as I was absolutely exhausted. I've had insomnia with Covid for the first 9 nights, and only started sleeping OK by Wednesday. Hoping I pick up more tomorrow!

Stop testing.

Whywhywhywhy3 · 24/12/2022 21:20

You're not considered infections after 10 days. I was allowed back to work on day 11 despite still testing positive a few months ago.

Whywhywhywhy3 · 24/12/2022 21:21

Infectious not infections!

elevenplusdilemma · 24/12/2022 21:25

If you're testing positive on a lateral flow then you are still infectious (however you can test positive for several weeks on a PCR even if you're no longer infectious - the two types of tests work differently). Some people only test positive for a couple of days, for others it hangs around 2+ weeks.

BaublesandBangles · 24/12/2022 21:38

You can test positive on a lateral flow for ages. I doubt you would still be infectious after 14 days.

Why are you testing?
