I have just tested positive for covid and I feel like I'm dying. Obviously I'm not but it feels horrendous.

Cough, swollen throat, exhausted, headache.

I don't need replies I just need to sit here and wallow...

Poor you. How are you feeling this evening?

I’ve just come on here looking for people who have just tested positive like me! not good timing at all.

I don’t feel too bad apart from a really bad headache and I sound like I’ve got a cold. I’ve been at work all week as though it was just a mild cold and work was too busy not to be there.

I had covid in the spring so am upset to get it again and dd is really upset that all our plans for this week are cancelled. Dh is vulnerable so I swing between thinking it’s no worse than a cold so let’s carry on to worrying he might get really ill…

Hi Daisy! I'm feeling horrendous. This is day 2. I had it in March and I'm up to date with all my vaccines. I had a terrible sense of impending doom until about 3 hours ago. My 8 year old is negative and so is my husband.

I am too sore to eat. My throat is swollen so I'm existing in sooky sweeties and juice. Even my eyeballs are sore. 😂

Blimey, you sound far worse than me. I’ve had cold symptoms- watery eyes, sniffles, aching limbs etc all week but it was the headache that floored me. It’s rough being stuck in bed though especially at Christmas.

I was due to have my booster now but have delayed it due to fears about long term reactions but now I’m regretting that!

My family are all negative and feeling fine so far..

Olivia199 · 23/12/2022 20:25

I'm with you both and feeling absolutely horrific.
Strange one for me though. Woke Sunday morning with a fever of 39 and feeling GOD AWFUL. Dragged myself to doctor Monday who diagnosed a chest infection caused by strep A (based on the fact my daughter had SF at the time).
All tests negative Sunday-Wednesday morning.
Had started to feel better with the antibiotics until Wednesday night when I got some new symptoms and couldn't smell a dirty nappy. Covid test and sure enough DARK positive. After stone cold negative a few hours before.
I'm assuming I picked it up in urgent care when I took my DD in for her scarlet fever.
Weird part though?
I last tested positive three weeks ago. I wouldn't have believed it if it weren't for the new symptoms and the fact my mums now tested positive after being around to help when we were both sick.
Twice in less than a month though? Didn't know that was possible!?

Olivia199 · 23/12/2022 20:26

However the good news is that my DD seemed to have some immunity from the last lot at least and is still negative!

HelloDaisy · 23/12/2022 21:00

Gracious I didn’t know you could catch it again that quickly! I hope you all start to feel better soon.

I know so many people who are unwell at the moment, lots of quiet Christmases going on.

HelloDaisy · 24/12/2022 21:10

How are you both today? I’ve been feeling ok, doing stuff around the house on and off when the others were out.
I started to wrap up presents just now and feel very dizzy and nauseous. Very strange feeling. I’ve checked it with 111 online and now waiting for a call. What a lovely Christmas….

BryanAdamsLeftAnkle · 25/12/2022 00:22

I'm done in. Totally wrecked. Took me far to long to wrap presents. Palpitations are through the roof. I'm dizzy, short of breath and exhausted. My throat is less sore than yesterday so that's a bonus.

Im off work until January now thankfully on annual leave. I'm a nurse and I have a horrible feeling that I'm going to take longer to get back to my normal self. This time has hit me harder. I'm utterly floored.

Glad to hear you're picking up a bit now. I hope you have a lovely Christmas.💐🤶🎅

Glad you’ve got some time off although do think you should change it from annual leave to sick. When I was nursing we could do that if ill on holiday. Not sure now though as it was a long time ago and also due to pandemic..
I am off now until new year but opted for unpaid leave for the 3 days.

It took me ages to wrap presents too as dizziness was making it hard, had palpitations too. This one feels worse than last time but not sure if that’s just because it’s Christmas and more pressure.

I hope you feel a bit better today and manage to enjoy the day, albeit not the one we planned to have.

Olivia199 · 25/12/2022 08:21

Morning ladies, and merry Christmas. Still feeling very fragile but seem to have turned a corner this morning. This one has definitely hit me far worse. We've postponed our proper family Christmas until next weekend so just a quiet morning with the little one opening a few bits from santa 🎅
I hope you all manage some rest over the coming days.

I'd agree though, I'd change at least a little of your leave to sick leave. I'm an ODP and honestly we need that annual leave to have some sort of break, not spend it with covid!

I'm lucky off over the next few days anyway so hopefully testing negative by Thursday return!

Hope you're both able to enjoy a bit of the day. X

Olivia199 · 26/12/2022 09:03

Hope you're both feeling a little more human today!

HelloDaisy · 26/12/2022 12:38

Hello. Definitely feeling more human today and my test is only a pale positive so that’s good!

I felt very tearful eating Christmas dinner on my own in my bedroom whilst dh and dc were downstairs. Not my plan at all. I still don’t know anybody else who has covid so no idea where I caught it…

Glad you are feeling better Olivia1999 and that you have postponed Christmas Day, good idea. xx

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 26/12/2022 12:41

I have it for the second time and I actually feel ok. Just a slight headache one or two days ago and then a snotty nose but I don't feel bunged up and can still breathe.
I wonder if it's because I have had it before that it's not so bad this time

So glad you're feeling better and getting fainter positives! Mine definitely seems to be getting fainter too.
Oh I'm so sorry you had your Christmas dinner like that. It's just horrible isn't it. Hopefully a lovely special day together once you're all feeling tiptop. Xx

Glad you're not feeling too rough!! Last time I felt mostly okay, just the normal level of rotten really. This time has totally and completely knocked me. It's been awful!

BryanAdamsLeftAnkle · 26/12/2022 14:29

It's day 5 and I'm feeling human again. Husband has tested positive this morning. He's currently in bed.

Im now just having dizzy spells and altered taste. I have seen myself in a mirror and I have lost weight. I was unable to eat for 3 days. So silver linings and all that.

Time to get cracking on all those Christmas snacks soon OP!

HelloDaisy · 26/12/2022 23:03

So sorry to hear your dh is now positive BryanAdamsLeftAnkle, as that will go in to New Year’s Eve too. Have you been isolating from him at all?

I do worry that my dh will catch it from me as he’s classed as vulnerable so not sure how ill he would be with it. I have been trying to stay away from them but it’s tough at Christmas…

Sorry to hear you’ve got it again, not fair is it! I hope it stays mild for you.
