Are people still getting terrible headaches as first or main symptom?

OP posts:
Tolacar · 19/12/2022 13:25

I’ve just tested positive…first symptom was a slightly tight chest followed by really sore throat. Day 3 and coughing up some phlegm and mild sore throat. Tiredness but feel fine otherwise! Thankfully no headache or fever.

VikingLady · 19/12/2022 13:35

I'm well into week two now. My main symptoms were bone-deep exhaustion and joint pain, plus a temperature. The snot, cough and loss of sense of smell/taste turned up a while later. No headaches at all though - and I usually expect at least one migraine per week.

squashyhat · 19/12/2022 13:38

No headaches but aching joints, tiredness and a hacking cough especially at night. I'm about 5 days in and can't taste or smell anything today but the other symptoms are lessening.

Anubis68 · 19/12/2022 14:41

ive a hoarse voice feel a bit tierd coughing a bit sometimes bringing phlegm up.

CMOTDibbler · 19/12/2022 14:44

We've had snot and tiredness first, then coughing and loss of smell but testing negative for 5 days. It was like having a horrible cold at first

belimoo · 19/12/2022 15:05

Mine started with a slightly sore throat and general feeling of being a bit off. Next day throat had got a bit worse, runny nose, sneezing, upset stomach, migraine, shivers, aching muscles and feeling exhausted and a bit dizzy. 3 days on and I still have all of the above, including bad head. Yay.

earsup · 19/12/2022 15:12

Sister has it again, 4th time, a few headaches and seems like a mild cold, friend had headaches for a week before testing positive and then cold symptoms...lasted a week.

tobee · 19/12/2022 16:46

My first symptoms (was on lookout as Dh tested positive a few days before) were slightly snotty nose. A tiny bit of nausea. Depressed appetite. But tired.

Stayed that way for a few days with weird grating cough occasionally. Slightly hoarse and nasal. All done after 7 days really.

shruggingitoff · 19/12/2022 16:51

I just tested positive. Coughing, achey shoulders and neck, headache, tiredness.

I did go out on Saturday for the first time in ages and had four pints of Christmas beer, so I did think that was the cause of the headache and general lack of enthusiasm for anything.

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 19/12/2022 19:38

Tested positive today.
Headache came on suddenly and that was the key for me. Slightly flue like ache.

Weird sinuses

Stabbing pains in stomach.

brusselsprout5 · 19/12/2022 20:10

Losing my voice was first symptom. Then exhaustion, general unwell feeling & tiredness. Slept 20 out of 24 hours 3 days in a row. Cold. The terrible cough was worst thing. No headaches, no loss of taste or smell. Back at work as a teacher day 7.

hopskijump · 19/12/2022 20:12

Headaches and fever here

SnuggleBuggleBoo · 19/12/2022 20:52

Wednesday/Thursday last week had a general 'going down with something' feeling, gulky throat, tired, lack of appetite etc. Friday felt really nauseous all morning and was sneezing more than I should. 2 colleagues have covid so I took a test and it was a very clear positive. Saturday, terrible fever, just lay in a comatose state all day and night. Really bad stomach ache, thick snot, every joint hurting. Sunday, I'm over the fever, most other symptoms quite a lot better but terrible cough. Today, still coughing, but not too much, tired and achey but not to the extreme, and no taste or sense of smell.

No headache at all, so I'll be grateful for small mercies there!

SulisMinerva · 19/12/2022 20:56

For me recently it was: feeling very tired, sore throat for a couple of days, dry, tickly cough which came and went, slight nausea and loss of appetite for a couple of days, period came a couple of days earlier and a bit heavier than usual.

Daughtersandbristolian · 19/12/2022 21:01

Painful ears that feel like I have broken glass and fire connected along to my throat. Gone onto my chest and have to prepare myself to cough. Never known such a sore throat in my life ! Nothing eased it not even honey and lemon as the lemon even burned my throat: couldn’t even sip water without pain!

Catterbat · 19/12/2022 21:11

Day 8 here. First symptoms were nausea, exhaustion and a slight headache. Then a flu-ey unwell feeling but no fever. Pretty much all gone by day 5 apart from fatigue, then day 7 the scratchy throat, painful chest and heavy cold symptoms started. Energy levels much better but the tickly throat and ears is driving me mad and I feel like shite. Can still smell and taste but everything tastes weird and nasty.

DrunkenKoala · 20/12/2022 06:08

Tested positive last night. First time I’ve had it (DS had it last Christmas and then DP back in Feb)
I’ve had a scratchy cough for a few days now but we’re having building work done and the house is very dusty so put it down to that. Last night my body felt heavy and sleepy with a bit of a sore throat so tested. This morning I feel the same but also have blocked ears and the cough has turned phlegmy. I don’t have a temp or headache or a streaming nose. And I’m starving!

CherrySmiler · 20/12/2022 08:46

First time having it. Had sore throat for few days and now have dry cough. DH has had broader range of symptoms with bad headache, shivers etc. Neither of us are over 50 so haven’t had recent booster vaccination. It had to get us eventually…..

Sparklefoof · 22/12/2022 13:24

First time, just tested positive today. DH was ill last week but tested negative so I just assumed I've picked up what he had. Been ill since Sunday, started with a scratchy throat and just been feeling generally rough, really achy, coughing, blocked nose, bit of an upset stomach. Only did a test out of interest this morning and the line appeared immediately. I don't actually feel too bad right now so hoping I dont get some kind of second wave of it!

23Elfie · 22/12/2022 15:24

I tested positive on Sunday. Only tested as BIL had got a positive and I'd been sat next to him all Saturday morning. Felt absolutely fine and no idea I had it.

Along came Monday morning and it was like the back of my head had been clamped in a vice!! Coughing has been and gone just a lingering dull headache and very tired now

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 22/12/2022 21:44

This is the thing with COVID one doesn't know how it twists and turns.
Im day 4 and was hoping I'm over the worst which actually was extremely mild or...was that it settling in.
The ears was so incredibly strange though. Really really tickling ear's;

Adviceneeded200 · 22/12/2022 22:15

Husband- mouth ulcers, runny nose, headache, temperatures, aches - day 10 today and occasional chesty cough
Me - slight sore throat, headache, runny nose, fatigue - day 7 today and just fatigue left
Elderly Dad - runny nose, fever, confusion, cough, rattly chest - he is on day 4 today
Daughter - just started severe sore throat, runny nose
Daughters partner - currently still clear

Appears a clear 3 day incubation period!

Alwaysconfuddled · 24/12/2022 20:40
