Is this normal? Feel like I'm cracking up

Handhold please - is this normal? On day 5 of COVID and can't sleep, haven't slept properly since day 1, the bodily symptoms are rough but manageable but my head is beyond. I can't even rest, my head just keeps aching even with painkillers and racing, I'm too tired to move much but can't stay still either. My head feels like it's going to fall apart.

Anyone around please? I don't know what to do, feels like I'm going mad.

Poor you, I would get checked out by a doctor that sounds like a nasty unrelenting headache and you need to make sure everything is okay 💐

That's how I felt too. I got a bit better on day 6. Get well soon x

My husband had covid before the vaccines were around. His first and worst symptom was the head pain, ibuprofen and paracetamol didn’t touch it and it lasted for eight days. I’m sorry you’re feeling so bad. Have you tried a hot flannel or cool flannel on your head? Pain killers? Are you drinking and eating enough? If you’ve done all this I’d get checked out but I do think you’re probably feeling anxious too understandably.

I'd say it's perfectly normal, for a couple of reasons. One is anxiety, you sound anxious - which isn't unusual, and plays merry hell with sleep. The other is, if your maybe not active or sleeping during the day while ill - that too will do it. I'm on day 7 and have been sleeping well, but not tonight. Not least because I feel a bit sick and have wind in my stomach, which I'm guessing is another lovely symptom!

Thankyou all, in the end I went back to bed and DH calmed me down enough that I could lie there and listen to audible and toss and turn. Still haven't really slept more than a very occasional 20min doze.

Not sure if I should ask for GP appt, as am physically not too bad considering it's covid but it's the not being able to rest that's getting me, feel exhausted but like I've had loads of caffeine (haven't though!), can't sleep or be up and about either and my mind won't stop racing still.

I've been really off food since this started and am trying to force myself to eat in case that's not helping but it's making me feel rough anyway. An taking painkillers and cold flannels, thankyou. Hope it gets better soon if it did the same for you.

I’m on day 8 of covid. Felt pretty much the same as you.

Advice I’ve been given is lots of water, paracetamol, rest, vitamin C and vitamin D.

The headache disappeared luckily on day 5.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 08/12/2022 14:28

Re the rest, it’s affected my sleep too. I’d advise resting where you can.

Headoutofplace · 08/12/2022 15:10

Thanks @GonnaGetGoingReturns , do you feel on the mend now or still struggling with it?

The headache was the worst part for me, lasted a full week and painkillers didn't touch it

@Headoutofplace I think I feel on the mend but it’s very up and down.

I don’t ache all over, the headache and dizziness is gone but I do still have a runny nose, cough and feel a bit weak. And still getting positive tests which is a pain.

@Headoutofplace I hope you feel better soon!
