Rise in numbers of cases of unprovoked blood clots since covid?

Does anyone know any stats regarding this? I’m interested in the amount of people in the U.K. who have been diagnosed with clots compared to pre covid times. I’m specifically interested in people who have been diagnosed with clots not necessarily linked to having (ie they don’t have covid at the time of the clot).

I’ve been googling and can’t find anything

Probably due to lockdowns and people not getting correct medical care I’d have thought.

Doesn't the new research point to clots being a side effect of the vaccine...??

I think we still don't know enough about Covid. The fact we are all exposed to it when we don't know what it's doing to us is rather alarming.

In very rare cases, and it's been a known side effect for 3 years. If you read the rest of the thread you'll see some figures and links showing you that developing clots after COVID infection is a lot less rare.

Nice try though.

Sedentary lifestyles and especially sitting down too much raise risk of blood clots. I'd imagine with gyms and pretty much everything else being shut a lot more people were sitting about than usual. Especially when you factor in lockdown and loads of people wfh.

What are the warning signs of blood clots?

Dd only got signs when the clots were in her lungs. Chest pain and breathlessness . She went to a&e and they did her obs and an ecg and said she was fine. Went to the GP a few weeks later with same symptoms and they did an ecg and said she was fine.

Woke up in the night a few weeks later with chest pain so bad it made her cry but then the pain went, came back that morning. She wanted to go to hospital again, I nearly said no, it’s a waste of time but thought no, I’ll take her. Obs were fine, ecg was fine, the nurse rolled her eyes at her and said she was anxious. Luckily someone else did a d-dimer blood test which came back raised.

100%. Also a lack of water can cause blood clots.

I’ve recently had a pulmonary embolism around a month after having covid. Drs put it down to covid thickening the blood. I had covid less than a year before too and never felt fully recovered - always breathless and tired - so I think it built up over a long time.
