How quickly did you test negative?

had a sore throat on Tuesday, and woke up with a cough on Wednesday. Did a lateral flow which was positive. Felt rough for about 4 hours on Wednesday night, but yesterday and today I feel absolutely fine (other than a slight runny nose).

this is my 2nd time catching covid in 12 months, but it is nowhere near as bad as it was last time (I have just had my 4th vaccine in the last two months).

im just sitting here wondering how soon I might get a clear test (I k ow that the guidance says likely not to be infectious after 5days….more for my own curiosity really)

if you’ve had it lately and weren’t really too ill how long did it take before you got a clear test?

(to be truthful I only really test as my dad is on end of life home care so obviously I don’t want to pass anything on!)

Sorry to hear about your dad. The guidance says many aren't infectious after five days - careful wording from them. As far as I know 1/3 of people aren't infectious after five days (which is still 'many'). I don't know how that relates to severity of symptoms, but I really hope you get a negative test soon.

Tested negative on day 5. Still had crippling fatigue but no other symptoms so went back to work (healthcare). Sorry to hear about your dad

11 days for me, despite only having very mild symptoms.

I got covid for the first time over the October half term. I didn't test negative until day 10. My son tested positive for the 2nd time this year and was negative after 4 days.

10 long days. I felt fine after 3 days so I was climbing the walls until I could leave the house.

**I had covid when you had to isolate for 10days after positive test or 2 negative tests

Negative on 8th day

13th day after symptoms started - 12th day after positive test.

Tested positive Monday, negative by Saturday.

I had a very weak line on 5th day but still visible, DD’s line was visible only at certain angle on the day 3 but hers was not very bright originally.

Dh was day 7 I think
Dd day 9 and I was day 10. Ds we didn't test after the initial test then. Surprisingly dh was the most unwell, I was almost asymptomatic and Dd was.

My DD has tested positive tonight. Cough started yesterday.

I am hoping against hope for an early negative as it's a big birthday on Friday, and party planned for Saturday
