I have it and I feel fucking horrific, like the worst flu of my life. I had it last year & didn't feel anywhere near this bad. Anyone else?

OP posts:
MummyInTheNecropolis · 28/11/2022 01:31

This is my third time, feels like flu at the moment, much worse than my second bout but not quite as bad as the first (yet)!

Toomanysquishmallows · 28/11/2022 02:49

Hazeyjane111, I really hope ds gets better soon.

does anyone have Covid but no respiratory/cold symptoms? I feel so icy cold, achy, tired and nausea
negative. LFT…

Yes. I started a post about this but never posted it. I have bad chronic pain and a lot of conditions and am just in bed weak and weary with a busting headache I've had for almost 2 weeks. Stupid things like pulled/jarred muscles etc. How are you feeling. I'm 9 days in

Myshitisreal · 28/11/2022 04:33

HazeyjaneIII · 28/11/2022 01:11

In hospital with ds who has Covid at the moment, stupid fucking shitting virus.

Hoping for quick recovery. ❤️💗

HazeyjaneIII · 28/11/2022 15:27

Thankyou Toomanysquishmallows and Myshitisreal

tobee · 28/11/2022 21:02

Hope so too @HazeyjaneIII.

I really hope new, effective treatments, available for many, of all types, will be available soon. And, crucially, made widely available.

Evusheld, the prophylactic for immunosuppressed, approved here in March, is still not available from the NHS. It is now available privately but cost, I'm told, £1000 a pop. I think it lasts about 6 months and its effectiveness is compromised by new sub variants. And plenty of clinicians haven't heard of it.

Apparently there are plenty of new or repurposed treatments but you have to look hard to find latest.

tobee · 28/11/2022 21:03

Sorry meant to say those new treatments are in the pipeline.

Swapshopped · 29/11/2022 18:33

@Myshitisreal oh no! You poor thing.
I had it in and off all of last week, came in waves. Finally feeling more human this week. Husband and two children have had it, one has escaped. Other people we’ve been in contact have the same thing. All a bit vague symptom wise but definitely aches, jelly legs, strange headache and nausea. Children were sick once. The worst was the shivers. All negative tests though!

givemushypeasachance · 02/12/2022 11:44

I tested positive yesterday - my first contact with covid! I just felt tired in the afternoon, increasingly blah and run down. Then at home time I suddenly came on feeling properly rubbish and shivery, and started with a mild cough. I was in the office, I wouldn't have gone in if I'd felt unwell in the morning. I cycled home in the cold and fog, feeling crappy, did a test when I got home as figured probably should if I still had some around, positive line came up within about two minutes.

Haven't been that bad really - taking paracetamol and ibuprofen holds off the feverishness. Got an annoying mild cough, bit snotty and the odd sneezing fit. Feel a bit tired and blah still; my garmin body battery shows I'm not right and my heart rate is elevated. But touch wood it'll stay at this mild level.

I'm annoyed it's 11 months since my last jab - I'm not vulnerable or a healthcare worker or anything so I wasn't allowed a booster this season, I'd gladly have paid for one like I do for a flu jab each year! Why not be as protected as possible.

MrsSkylerWhite · 02/12/2022 11:49

No, husband wfh but around half of his colleagues/business contacts do atm .

BuckarooBanzai · 02/12/2022 11:55

Dp had it and was worse than me initially but now he's fine! I'm in bed 2 weeks later and this is after a course of oral steroids and I'm now on a steroid inhaler. Have coughed so much that I've pulled all my chest and back muscles. I'm wondering if I had a bigger viral load as I had it after DP. DP is a lot fitter and healthier than me though it has to be said!

user573010482911233445559002281818484 · 02/12/2022 12:05

I tested positive yesterday. I received my 4th jab in September.

I have a headache on and off, I'm stuffy and a bit tired. But I feel like that a lot of the time anyway with chronic sinusitis.

Feel exactly the same about the booster! I've currently got covid for the first time, day 8 today. I'm in my mid 40s and my last one was before Xmas last year, would've gladly paid for one too and do feel miffed.
Last year DD had it in December and then DH in January and I didn't catch it either time - convinced it's because I was better protected then.

I tested positive on Tuesday, my first time with covid.
No symptoms but work on a ward where we had 6 cases over the weekend.
By Tuesday evening had cold symptoms and soaked the bed with sweat coming out every pore.
Now still have mild cold symptoms with a cough which has caused great pain in my rib area, both sides.

Hope it goes soon.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 02/12/2022 21:09

Checking in today with my first positive covid test. I know I didn’t have it at the weekend as I went on a date last Saturday and my date has to test for work and he tested negative before and after our date.

I’m 51 and not been out much and off work due to being let go a week or so ago but think I might’ve caught it either from supermarkets on Wednesday or maybe at my nephew’s nativity play on Thursday but doesn’t it lay dormant?

l’m the 4th person I know of (not friends or close friends, sister of close friend had it a week ago and my friend’s mother had it it has it too).

a friend of mine has told me he’s heard it’s more contagious but weaker. It certainly feels different to any cold viruses I’ve had this autumn and recently but then didn’t test and Nurofen Cold and Flu killed it off. For me cold remedies aren’t helping and git banging headache, eyes are blurry, very sniffy, feel sick but achey too. Still have sense of taste and smell maybe a bit reduced.

I don't think that necessarily means you didn't have it then. I'm just getting over Covid and dh hasn't caught it - he's done tests so it's not even that he's asymptomatic. I thought it was a cold at first so wasn't being particularly careful around the house/avoiding contact with him. Odd when you consider how contagious it's meant to be!
I also felt sick with it, but that only lasted a day or two. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Well I didn’t feel as sick at the weekend as I feel now!

The thing is my DM is at risk (can’t recall the exact term) and I see her weekly so she’s obviously concerned about catching it.

My DB has tested and he’s negative.

I’ve had other colds/viruses this autumn and didn’t think to test but as at least 4-5 people I know have caught covid recently then I think it’s very contagious and on the rise.

disconnecteddrifter · 03/12/2022 07:00

I have it. I thought I had a really bad old and cough and have been kn school all week as we are not supposed to test and are told to go in. I mean a teacher can in the day after she broke her leg and they said it's a good role model as they can't afford cover for absent teachers. Anyway I've spread it around as most of my classes are half depleted so I feel really guilty but still have to go in. I have sneezes, cough all night so no sleep dizziness, no taste or smell and headache. On day 6. It is like a bad cold but lack of sleep is making life hard

Lena84 · 05/12/2022 16:06

How long did dry cough last for you ? I am on my 5th covid, but first with a cough🥴🥴🥴

Proteinpudding · 05/12/2022 17:45

Got covid for the first time, very lucky to have avoided it until now. It's weird - the 'cold' type symptoms for me are very mild, at least compared to how I react to usual winter viruses. A bit congested but nothing major, bit of a dry cough. But I don't seem to be capable of being upright for more than an hour or so without needing a nap. And usually when I'm ill I feel impatient and bored, right now I could be quite content staring at a blank wall for a few hours. I'm like a chill zombie.

I'd heard people say that having covid felt different to anything else, but I wasn't expecting this!

I am fairly certain I got this from work, the day before a colleague had felt off with one specific symptom, and the next day I started with the same symptom. There have been a lot of people off in the office, but either we haven't been told it was covid or people haven't tested (which is fair enough, I know they're not required to)
I only did so really as my DH got ill just as quickly as I did and he never gets ill, and a few new symptoms that made me think something was different. I work face to face and know my employer wouldn't want me to risk passing it on (very lucky to be in a job with sick pay and Union backing though)
I do feel guilty as its a really busy time at work but I know I'd be useless with this brain fog.

For those of you referring to day X, are you counting from the day you got ill or the day you tested positive? I know everyone's experience will vary but I'd be interested to guage what I might be able to expect in terms of recovery time.

givemushypeasachance · 06/12/2022 12:24

Update from me - I tested positive last Thursday, it's Tuesday today so I think that's about day five? First day I've basically felt 'okay' with a mild cold, versus actually feeling unwell. Haven't had any paracetamol or anything today as don't feel I need it. Still can't smell or taste anything, a bit congested and a bit of a cough.

I spent most of the weekend in bed or lying on the sofa, well dosed up on drugs. Coughing and sneezing were pretty bad and I just felt rough - being upright doing things like fetching a hot drink, or feeding the cats, tired me out and I would feel a bit short of breath and wobbly. When I was lying down I felt better in myself. Monday I felt improved, more like a regular bad cold, and today improved again. Hopefully over the worst of it now.

I'll do a test again later and see what that says - I haven't felt inclined to go out till now anyway though!

jmcg2015 · 06/12/2022 19:08

Hi all. Yup first time, managed to avoid it until now! Banging headache and fever on Friday into Saturday, then gradually was feeling better. Tested positive on day 5 today and feel quite sick and dizzy. Anyone else seem to have a resurgence half way through?

jmcg2015 · 07/12/2022 21:04

I tested positive for the first time on Friday 2nd, I'm on day 6 now. Really peculiar, was rough for days 1-4 then felt a bit better, then day 6 really feeling a bit worse and my taste has gone. Really does ebb and flow but not nice at all

You posted a few days after I tested positive for the first time, I'm counting from the 2nd, the day my symptoms started. Days 1-2 I had high fever and bad headache, 3-4 was recovering from that and had a croaky voice and so tired. 5-6 I felt I went back the way a bit and lost my taste. It can be horrible for most of the day, then at night I can feel a bit improved, the next morning can be fine until I expert myself a little then everything seems terrible again. How's your journey going?

Jamesandthegiantpeach74 · 07/12/2022 21:37

Hi. I tested positive last night after about 5 days of sore throat and coughing.
Test came up strong right away. Had cold cough sore eyes and tired.
Today been off work and tried to rest. Had a massive cold, coughing, hot/ cold but havent had a temperature, loss of appetite , cant taste, sore stingy eyes, tired, headache on and off
I have taken day off tomorrow too, dont get paid for being off which is annoying.
Wondering what tomorrow will bring.
