Shocked to hear about this. The subject line is the headline of the BBC news article, if anyone wants to look at the article. I am unable to link.

Omg, those poor kids

VanillaImpulse · 01/11/2022 21:48

So unnecessary giving them to children anyway

VerifiedBot2351 · 01/11/2022 21:51

These vaccination places are not properly staffed.

Etinoxaurus · 01/11/2022 22:06

Meh
When I googled it the result below was about the inquest of a 15 year old who died of covid. It must be nearing 200 million doses given, the consequences of too large a dose are likely to be headache and tiredness 💁🏻‍♀️

Unacceptable especially given it's a child only clinic.

Fortunately the risk of increasing side effects is very unlikely with vaccines - they're not drugs.

I personally wouldn't be concerned, especially when you contrast this against the high & uncontrolled dose of spike protein a person recieves from a coronavirus infection.

Nonsense. I work in a large vaccination clinic and it is run very professionally. We always have a very senior nurse (Band 8) in charge. On each shift there is nearly always a Band 6 and a number of Band 5s of which I am one. We undertake regular training and updates of various protocols. Each dose of vaccine is double checked. Obviously I can’t speak for all centres but your statement is untrue.

My experience exactly- I’ve had 4/5? doses all in different places and the whole process was rigorous and well organised.

I agree the clinics are usually very well run & staffed, but it's clear in this case something went unacceptably wrong if 34 children weren't given the appropriate dose.

FannyFifer · 02/11/2022 12:40

Doesn't give much detail but I'd guess the vaccinator had been doing lots of adult clinics.
The dose of adult Comirnaty is 0.3 ml & they maybe gave 0.3 of the paediatric version by mistake when it's meant to be 0.2ml.
Not a good mistake to make but won't have caused any health issues I wouldnt have thought.

Roselilly36 · 02/11/2022 15:36

From other reports (GB News) the children affected were given x3 of the usual paediatric dose.

The last one I had, in a shopping centre, was staffed woefully.
