cant swallow

I tested positive for covid yesterday and I've had an increasingly painful sore throat ever since.

I'm now at the point where I can't even swallow my own saliva due to the pain.

I've tried difflam, just makes it even worse, strepsills, gargling with salt water and co-codomol and nothing is helping.

I cant swallow any liquid at all so I'm worried I'm going to end up dehydrated. I cant even take little tiny sips it's so bad.

any suggestions for what else I can try? I can't take any painkillers because I can't swallow!

In the meantime is there anyone who could get you dissolvable aspirin? If you can hold that solution in your mouth and tilt your head back it will help. It will gradually reduce inflammation until you can start to swallow a bit.

Quinsy? Possibly you need urgent help if so, it may need aspirating. Call 111. I have had this twice once as a child and another at 28, emergency tonsillectomy followed once the infection cleared. Good luck OP.

if you can get to manage even small sips take teaspoons of warm water, I suffer a lot with my throat and find that more easy to manage than hot or cold

Agree with pp that mentioned quinsy as a possibility. Ring 111. Some good ideas already given for while you wait for call back.

Agree that you should call 111 I know you have Covid but your symptoms sound exactly like a quinsy
