I know I know - stupid been done to death question but I feel quite hideous so thought I'd ask

Tested positive on Monday evening and didn't feel too bad until maybe late Tuesday

Since then, I've been sick, felt very tired, had cold symptoms etc and today I feel very fatigued with a headache, feel sweaty, jaw and sinuses hurt and I just feel lousy

I'm a terrible patient and I've already had to take some time away from work since I got covid so I'm panicking I'll have to take more time

Am I just being inpatient

I took an entire week off work. Started off WFH but my symptoms soon took over and made it impossible so I just rested.

All in all, I tested positive for 9 days. Felt roughest day 4 and 5. Didn't feel "recovered" until day 10.

I went through a range of symptoms during that time. It went from good to bad, to hell, until I finally felt better again.

I'm a terrible patient too as I'm not used to being so sick. Hang in there though, it'll be over before you know it!

Going into week five, sill dizzy, fatigued, got tests booked at Drs. No stamina or concentration. Still off work, can’t drive or concentrate never mind manage a day at work, good job I’m zero hrs semi retired.

Two weeks of bed to sofa, sofa to bed. I'm on day 18 now and almost feel back to normal except for the poor appetite, dreadful back pain, chest pain, lethargy, abdominal pain and upset bowels and general tiredness. Despite that I'd say I'm about 90% back to normal now. I'm still amazed that it affected me so much despite 4 vaccines. I dread to think how I'd have been without the vaccines. Dead probably as CEV. Get well soon!

I'm day 13 since symptoms started (positive on day 2 - ANd still testing positive. I had to seek advice if I could get my blood test done on Monday from GP as wasn't sure if still infectious & was told v unlikely be infectious after 7 days. But that aside - I do still feel unwell. I thought I was doing better sunday/monday with just fatigue and full taste to return. Maybe I did too much on Monday (went for short walk & had blood test) but I felt pretty bad again yesterday and have blocked nose and sore throat again.

I think this is common - to yo-yo through symptoms etc but is it all part of covid - or a new cold? I am still testing positive so I guess most likely covid . But if covid - mentally I can't help but think I must be infectious with covid? Living with dh & two teens (on half term). Do you think of yourselves as still potentially contagious??

I attempted a normal day yesterday and found it exhausting. I slept for 12 hours and still feel shattered. I have a runny nose this morning too.

EatYourFive · 26/10/2022 11:16

When I had it back in March was very ill for a week, two weeks of brain fog etc, and three weeks to feel back to fairly normal. A month before I dared trying some light exercise.

Tested positive yesterday and it feels quite different this time. Had horrendous shortness of breath last night, came close to calling 111, never had when I last had covid, it was more like a severe cold.
Have taken today off sick and doubt I can work tomorrow..

Oh I hope you feel better soon. When did you stop testing positive ?

Not the answer to your question but I’ve tested positive this afternoon (I may have had very mild symptoms for a few days but it’s hard to know as I have other chronic health stuff).

Anyway, I feel like absolute shit so just wanted to commiserate! Flowers

TheCurseOfBoris · 26/10/2022 19:32

I tested positive today too. Have a really sore throat and 1 blocked nostril. A few dizzy spells. And, what's unusual for me, not much appetite - that's why I tested. Am post menopause and have so many aches and pains that I can't possible ache any more!

ChocChipOwl · 26/10/2022 20:30

Well, I appear to have survived it! I'm still testing positive after what must be about 9 or 10 days now. Only started to pick up a bit a couple of days ago - still felt lousy on Sunday with sinus type pain and headache

I feel like I have a cold now and just feel a bit rubbish if I do too much but I'm really hopeful it's on the way out now.

Sympathies to all who have got it now for the first time - I was quite blasé about it beforehand and made no effort to protect myself from getting it. I didn't fear it.

I still don't fear it tbh but I would take more steps in the future I think - mainly because I have felt awful for a lot of days now!
