I have been lucky to have escaped covid so far since it first began. Unfortunately I came down with it on Saturday. Thankfully my symptoms were mild and I not lose taste or smell. I have now tested negative 6 days later but they say to still isolate for a further 3 days.

I lost my appetite. My appetite is a bit better but still not back to normal. I can only eat snack type meals and soup. Full meals are out of the question at the moment. I cooked a dinner last night and when I served it up I could only eat one third of it and coul not manage the rest.

I would have thought my appetite would be back to normal by now. I am currently eating one piece of toast for breakfast and then a bowl of soup and some bread and thats all I can maage. Today I had some cereal but it was only half a bowl. I hae lost a bit of weigt as a consequence but its only 4 pouns but the longer this goe on the more weight I will lose which is not good for an already slim person.

Is this long covid How long do you think it will take before my appetite returns. I use to love eating a full roast dinner.

Yes, I totally lost my appetite - hardly ate anything at all for a week, then in the week recovering I could only manage very small portions. It's taken awhile to get back to normal, I'd say a couple of weeks. I lost 4.5 kg (some of that welcome!)

Don't put pressure on yourself or worry about weight loss, you will get back to normal in a little while. Just eat what you can manage and like!

Oh and no, that's not long Covid. It's just your eating patterns coming back to normal. :)

Both my husband and I only snacked mostly when we all had covid. My 2 adult sons could still eat normal large meals, we had pizza delivered twice and I really enjoyed that. I think it was more the thought of cooking, then eating what I’d cooked. The most we all ate was a curry which surprised us all.

It's hard to say as it can vary from person to person. I lost my appetite completely by day 3. But then it came back on day 7. I think a good thing to do is to get active and start moving again, and it might improve your appetite.

I know you're meant to rest and take it easy, but for me at least, the lack of movement didn't help my lack of appetite.
