Hi - I'm day 7 of covid. Lost most of taste from about day 4-5. Still testing positive. Really hoping to be neg soon . But just wondered with the newer omicron variant , which I presume this is, how long are people losing taste for?

Finding it so hard to eat and suffering with fatigue so really want to get 'strength' up so can get back to life demands soon.

Also - day 7 - surely I must be less infectious now?? Certainly coughing etc less (though not completely). Worst is the fatigue, nausea and loss taste.

I think best to assume you're infectious for 10 days if testing positive.
My taste came back at about days.
I rested when I was fatigued had a telephone appointment with Gp for something else and he stressed to rest if I needed to, that it should help me recover quicker.

Lost my taste a few days after testing positive. It came back a couple of days after testing negative. Tested negative on day 8. But I’d only had my booster three weeks before.

Thanks

That's encouraging taste came back once negative.

My taste (and smell) started to come back about a week after I felt better. Think it's pretty much A-OK now! Hope you get yours back soon, it's a weird experience.

My partner got COVID in early October (around the 2nd or 3rd). Lost sense of taste and smell two days later. Tested negative after six days. Sense of smell hasn't returned and it took about two weeks for her sense of taste to return after first testing positive.

Golly! Out of interest, what did your partner eat whilst still not got taste. Main symptoms now are fatigue and loss of taste / smell. And I just feel at a loss what to eat, as what is the point if can't taste?! I can tell difference between say minty (toothpaste!) and something salty. Textures I realise play a much bigger part than I realised to eating. But nothing I am really enjoying.

Tks (ps day 8)

My partner ate most of the same stuff she ate without covid, and what me and the toddler were eating. She could still feel the textures of the foods she enjoyed, and later could smell them so not all that bad.

Fatigue sucks big time. :( I also had muscle pain, insomnia, fever, eye pain and a bad cough. Not something I want to repeat again.

I am on day 4 and this is my first time having Covid. I had slight shivers and a bit of a cough on Sunday and got a positive test result. I have felt slight achy across my back, but do get mild back ache and a bit bunged up. However my taste and smell have totally gone. Everything tastes of nothing, it's so odd. I've therefore just eaten healthy food just to not be hungry but it's made me realise what rubbish I do normally eat, so I am going to try and keep the healthy eating going even when my senses return. If this is the worst it gets, then I am counting myself extremely fortunate.

Morning. Day 4 here as well. I have lost my sense of smell and a subdued taste but not gone completely. Also the muscle pains you mention @Valentine259

How are you now @Kcc73

Wishing everyone well.
