Silly question about covid testing

ChocChipOwl · 19/10/2022 16:08

So I tested positive on Monday evening and feel rubbish right now. Believe I caught it from my son who was unwell last week but I hadn't thought he had covid

Anyway so I tested him too on Monday (he's feeling fine now) and his result was a very weak positive. Mine was very dark and immediate

My question is ... as I get better (Christ I hope I improve soon!) if I was to re test, would my result get lighter over time as I improve?

Or dark/ light, it's all the same ?

This was my experience, but I had a strong positive line on day 5 when I had no symptoms at all.
I don't think there is a correlation between how poorly you feel and how dark/light the line is.
I hope you feel better soon!

I had barely any symptoms when I had covid (tested as Dd had it from a contact with no symptoms) and I had a strong line at first which did fade but not always in a linear fashion ie darker then lighter then darker again. (This was back when you had to test every day after day 5/6 or whatever the rule was)

I had a strong positive line from Day 1 to around Day 6, then it lightened in a subsequent test. I had Covid symptoms for the first week, now recovered.

I had a strong line at the start and it was fainter by day 8 and still there on day 11, although very faint.

Floodedoutagain · 20/10/2022 12:54

i think you can be faint at the beginning and at the end. Most seem to jump straight to a solid strong line but I’ve known others who have had faint at the beginning. From recent experiences I’d say try different packet of tests.

Mine were very dark for 9 days and then suddenly completely clear on day 10. Nothing in between

RascafríaMom · 20/10/2022 22:26

Mine was initially pretty dark and right away. And then it slowly got light day by day. Day 11 it was super light, squint to see it and next day not even that.

pensionconfusion · 21/10/2022 14:28

Mine was light for the first two days when I was at my worst. Now it's dark. On day 4 now

User241022 · 24/10/2022 20:04

Most of my friends had a gradual fading of the test line so I expected mine to be the same. But mine went from dark positive on day 10 to nothing on day 11. And the symptoms completely disappeared from day 10 to 11.
