I'm confused and hoping someone can clear it up for me. Google is sending me down rabbit holes but I'm feeling a bit meh maybe I'm also getting it?!
Son tested positive Wednesday - if he's negative tomorrow can he go to school? Or does he have to keep isolating? I've been so blasé that we'd had our "turn" and not thought it would be back again so soon that I've taken my finger off the pulse.

Schools don't expect anyone to test, if he is well enough to be in then he can go regardless of test results.

dementedpixie · 02/10/2022 16:06

Speak to the school. Kids are usually advised to stay off for 3 days if they have a positive test

BiggerBoat1 · 02/10/2022 16:08

I don't think any students are testing anymore. In my school if the teachers test positive, they are asked to stay home for 5 days. I'm not aware of any kids being off with Covid, but plenty must have it. If he's well enough send him in. Kids have missed enough school.

That's great news. He had couple of rough days but is bouncing off the walls now!

My kids school keeps going on about the importance of attendance, they don’t expect anyone to stay home.

WitchDancer · 02/10/2022 16:31

My DS tested positive and the school were pestering him to attend. I think it's morally wrong to send them in so I kept him home until we got a negative test, just telling the school he was too unwell to go in.

Isaidnoalready · 02/10/2022 16:36

Unless they are "ill" send them in HOWEVER when dfriend did this they announced it to the year he had covid and he had to wear a mask eat seperate walk seperate practically had to ring a bell shouting unclean unclean covid positive coming through mum was pissed and collected him

Nik2015 · 02/10/2022 17:08

I’d say 3 days and then back in. I wouldn’t send my DC in with covid.
Check with the school though.

alwaystrainers · 02/10/2022 17:35

I'm going to test in the morning. My workplace says 5 days WFH if positive then ok to go in regardless of test result so he won't be far off that <does mental calculations >

DD is a teacher and her school says five days off following a positive test, then they're encouraged to wear masks for a few days after. Teachers and kids.

It seems odd to go on about attendance and then force kids to sit with people that will impact their attendance!
