Dizziness as a covid symptom

Butterfly44 · 20/08/2022 12:12

Day 5 of covid for me. Started with headache, sore throat, to cold symptoms, runny nose and cough. They have all gone and my main symptom right now is dizziness. Feel quiet light headed. Wouldn't trust myself to drive type of dizziness.
Did anyone rise have this and did it go away?

Yes. And yes it goes away.

Saucery · 20/08/2022 12:22

Yes, my dizziness lasted into a second week and was the main reason I couldn’t return to work after the main symptoms disappeared. It did pass after that, though.

AntlerRose · 20/08/2022 12:22

Yes we all did and it did go

Hi OP,

Im on day 10 since getting symptoms, I was only very ill for a day and then by day 4 symptoms had gone and on day 5 the dizziness started. I’ve found it was constant but now I seem to have bouts - I think the following helps:

-decent nights sleep

  • not looking at my phone first thing after waking

  • eating soon after waking and downing a pint of water

  • reduce screen time

  • no coffee

I find if I do those then I get ‘spells’ throughout the day rather then intense dizziness/spacey head/nausea from the moment I wake up. Really hope it goes - finally tested negative today 😭

Good luck!

yes, this was my main symptom on my second bout of covid - it was the thing that made me test. Take some vitamin D as it seems to help with all things covid and it is recommended to those suffering with vertigo too.

Thanks all. That's reassuring. And some great advice thank you. Will ride this through x

My post covid dizziness has lasted 5 months now, it’s horrendous.

Arcadia · 20/08/2022 17:20

@FrownedUpon have you spoken to your GP?

I thought mine was getting better but I think I've just got used to it. We have just been on holiday and I noticed it more in unfamiliar surroundings. One evening we sat outside our cottage looking up at stars, it was really dark outside. I got up to walk and I felt like the ground was rocking around me to the extent I almost fell over.

I got my first symptom last Tuesday so day 5 for me today. I wouldn't say I've felt dizzy as such just a bit "fuzzy". I found the headache and fevers to be the worst things but they have stopped as have my cold symptoms. I have also got a loss of smell and taste but not complete loss. Some things taste bitter, such as water of all things. Last two weeks of the school hols with loads of plans so really hoping I'm going to feel more normal again within a few days. I only recently stopped masking in shops, wish I hadn't now.

Yes - dizziness and palpitations were awful.

They lasted on and off for a few weeks - probably about six weeks?

Snugglemonkey · 01/09/2022 14:00

I had dizziness for 2 days before any other symptoms. I thought it was being busy and pregnant in the heat, but no. It took a week to go away.
