Swollen gland in neck

My young adult DD currently has Covid (not in the UK). She has a very swollen painful gland in her neck. What would you do? My instinct is for her to get it checked out. She is travelling at the moment which makes it tricky.

A quick google has shown that it is not a common Covid symptom.

Hopeful bump?

sorry, only just seen this. How is she?

It could be swollen lymph nodes. There are some in the neck (and other places) and this can happen when the body is fighting an infection. 1 in 5 people testing positive for Covid reported having swollen glands (Zoe app study).

Thanks for replying.

She had really nasty tonsillitis on top of covid...now on a long course of antibiotics. The infection had started to spread around her body so no wonder her gland was gigantic!

Oh no, poor thing! That's OK. Thanks for updating, hope antibiotics do their thing and she's soon on the mend.

Just seen this - hope your DD is feeling better now. I tested positive for Covid just under three weeks ago, was really quite ill and have improved now, am back to work and normal activities but the glands in my neck have still not gone down and I have an ongoing fluey feeling - it is super annoying I just feel really run-down. My throat was also very sore - it felt like it was totally closing up at its worse and still flares up on a daily basis.
