Pinged on the NHS covid app

I was in hospital on Saturday 30th with a relative. Yesterday and today I've had 5 close contact notifications through the old NHS app (which I had actually forgotten I even had!) Does anyone know what that actually means? Does it mean I've been in contact with 5 different covid cases, or is it 1 and it just keeps reminding me? Also could it just be because I was in a hospital and so there will be patients on the wards rather than being in direct contact?
I'm a bit anxious because we are meant to go on holiday abroad at the weekend.
Thank you

Is it actually through the app or was it text messages? There's a scam going around that sends texts to people telling them they've been in contact and asking them to pay for a test. I think the app is long defunct now so I'd be surprised if it's at all legitimate.

It could be a scam. But I honestly would just delete and ignore.

It's a very popular scam at the moment.

No it was through the app. I actually thought I had deleted it tbh.

Delete and ignore.

Its not surprising you got a ping after being in hospital ! Staff were told to turn it off when at work for this very reason.
Ignore it and delete it.
