Paid deposit on holiday, now I don't want to go

I paid a deposit on a holiday with my partner and we have a date in August to pay the whole holiday off. The holiday is in October. Now I don't want to go. I have covid a few weeks ago and then yesterday and today I am dealing with another virus, maybe norovirus. I am sick.

I don't want to go on holidays now because I just see it as welcoming more sickness into my body and my life. I don't think I want to do this again. The idea of being so sick in recent weeks and then going out and mixing with others on public transport and on flights and on a cruise does not appeal to me. I would prefer to stay at home and spend my hundreds locally.

If this was just me, I would lose the deposit and be happy with my decision but I do have a partner to consider.

Have you researched the options?

Find out how much you'd lose - it may be more than your initial deposit- if you cancelled now. Also if the trip is transferrable to another date. Maybe also check if a name change is possible so your DP could bring a friend instead if you don't go.

Oh poor you, willing to forfeit hundreds (thousands?) Of pounds to not go on holiday over the minute chance you will potentially get sick.

Meanwhile there are families who cant afford to eat.

I have to say if I was your partner I'd be looking into changing the booking so a friend could go. No way would I be cancelling if I really wanted to go.

It's 3 months away love... I think you need to seek some therapy if you're that scared about catching another virus. That's not a normal mindset.
